An earlier answer said this light kit has 190 watt limit. Does that mean CFL 190 watt equivalent or can there be four 60-watt equivalent bulbs?

Answer:
Should be four 40-watt regular incandescent candelabra bulbs provided with the fan - so 4x40 watts = 160 watts total. So if you use anything other than regular incandescent bulbs, just look at the wattage that particular bulb uses (not the equivalent brightness). Four regular incandescent 60-watt candelabra bulbs would exceed the limit - 4x60 watts = 240 watts, which is greater than the 160-watts. I have Read More

Four regular incandescent 60-watt candelabra bulbs would exceed the limit - 4x60 watts = 240 watts, which is greater than the 160-watts. I have not researched CFL bulbs, but have researched the LED candelabra bulbs.
I think most 40 to 60-watt equivalent LED candelabra bulbs only use 4 to 5-watts per bulb, so 4x4.5 watts (averaged) = 18 watts, which is well under 160-watts. For LED, CFL, or any other type of bulbs, regardless of the equivalent wattage brightness, again just make sure the actual wattage used, times 4, dose not exceed 160 watts. Read Less

Answer:
Hello Fan,
We are sorry about any misunderstanding. That light kit you have takes 4 - 40 candelabra incandescent bulbs, 190 watts is the max for any bulb used that is comparable to the incandescent bulb style. Using 60 watt will exceed the 190 watt max for this light kit system. If you need further assistance please contact us at social@help.hunterfan.com .
Have a great day.

Can 60W equivalent LED candelabra base bulbs be used with this fan? They even make dimmable ones now.

Answer:
Hello,
You can use LED bulbs with this fan, as long as the wattage of the LED bulb does not exceed the wattage listed on the sticker of the light kit of the fan. However if you want to add dimming capability you have to purchase dimming LED bulbs and a Hunter accessory remote control with dimming feature. Thank you for contacting Hunter Fan!

This is a really good fan, however, you cannot install a light kit other than the one that comes with it. I really wanted a schoolhouse light, but couldn't get it. Kits from other manufacturers won't fit Three stars because customer service is AWFUL. One of the enclosed lights didn't work. Package said call Hunter. I did. The agent said if it was physically broken they would not replace it. I said I can't find one to match. She said it was my problem...go buy four new ones if I want them to match. Really? I dollar light bulb and you won't replace it? Well, one of them is going to burn out anyway and you will have the problem then anyway. Thanks. But, the fan works really well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needfs additional parts I returned this fan. The description on the Home Depot web page said that it was suitable for sloping and level ceilings. The installation instructions clearly state that if you have a sloping ceiling the 3 inch downrod included with the fan must be replaced with a longer downrod. The shortest downrod available on the manufacturer's web cite was 12 inches meaning that the fan would hang way too low in my room to be useful. I even called the manufacture's help line. The additional expense for the replacement downrod also made the cost of the fan much less attractive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fan wobble and RPM problems These fans have lots of wobble after they are assembled and hung. The fan comes with a wobble kit, but I wasn't able to completely eliminate the wobble after making balance adjustments per the instructions provided. I spent over 3 hours. Helpful hint, hang the fan without the fan blades/irons installed and run the fan at high speed. If the motor housing has any wobble, return the fan. You cannot balance out this manufacturing defect. Finally, on the high speed fan setting, my old fans rotated at an RPM speed that was 150% faster than this Hunter fan. The Hunter fan barely generates enough of a breeze to be of any benefit, which means I have to lower the temperature on my air conditioner thermostat. Both the Hunter fan and my old fan have the same size motor housing, so the Hunter fan's motor design leaves something to be desired from a performance stand point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Needed a New Ceiling Fan/Light When my ceiling fan/light in my kitchen lost it's fan capability I had an electrician come look at - he told me he was not able to repair fan or replace it. Since I needed to buy a new one I went with the make / model I already had. An electrician did the installation - and it appeared he had no trouble at all installing it. It's quiet, gives good light, cools room as expected. Would recommend to others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice fan, just not bright. This fan was used to replace the exact same one that died at 10 years old. It looks good, is very quiet... HOWEVER, it now uses 4 x40watt bulbs! Not nearly bright enough for a kitchen! Also, they are the tiny end chandelier bulbs. We replaced them with 60 watt, since that was all we could find in the tiny end bulbs. If I had ti to do again, I wouldn't use the same one because we needed more light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful fan! Beautiful fan, easy to put together and well made. Perfectly quiet, smooth running too. All reasons I purchase Hunter fans. Needed 6" downrod that Hunter does not make, this was a pain, had to buy 12" and cut and drill it. Threads different so can't use another maker for the rod. Peaked ceiling and wall required specific length . The fan so far is awesome, lights are bright but not overwhelming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quiet and beautiful We purchased this to replace a cheaper fan from Walmart that made horribly loud sounds at medium and low speeds. This Hunter fan is quiet, beautiful, and was fairly easy for my father-in-law to install. My only complaint is that 1 of the light bulbs was crushed in its box. Thankfully, I had others at home to replace it. Other than that, the fan has been great for us!!
