Great product. Great idea.
Hidden fees to continue to use the product - BAD!
First three months are free. After that, plan on shelling out ten dollars per month or a one time fifty dollars to continue to use the product. The only way you can access this thermostat is over the internet. You must pay the fee to access it.
Home Depot sells similar items that do not require a monthly fee. Do your homework. A cheaper purchase price does not always mean cheaper in the long run.

I bought the Hunter Universal Internet thermostat 3 days ago. Installation and setup were simple and it worked the first day. However the iPad app would not connect the second day and then I noticed the date on the unit said Nov 31, 2012! There is no such date. Then this morning at 3:30 I woke up sweating and went to look at the thermostat and it was 83 in the house with a set temperature of 99!!!! I tried manually lowering it but it would reset to 99. I had to shut off the heat. So much for my energy savings. It is 25 degrees outside and I have my bedroom window open. This has been a disaster..this thing is going back today.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by unoman Poor Internet interface - poor programmable setup
This product looks great and installs very easily - that is about the only good things to say about it. One cannot program the unit physically - you have to access the internet to program it even when you are right in front of it!!. The programming mode is poorly designed - one cannot copy a day's setting to another day and once false move when creating your settings and you lose it all!!.
Getting the unit to connect to your wifi settings is another thing they don't make clear in the manual - it took about 30 minutes of experimenting before the unit connected to my wifi setting at home.
I ended up disconnecting the unit and returning it - also contacted Hunter about the poor features but never heard a word back from them - shows you what customer support would be like!!
All in all - forget this unit and get one of the other offerings.

I purchased the Hunter internet thermostat when it first came out. It was extremely easy to install and it sync'd up to my internet immediately - no pairing just plug it in and viola, instant connection. There seemed to be a couple of software glitches on the website early on but those were quickly fixed (even got a note from Hunter explaining the issue). The website seems very well laid out and it's particularly easy to design and change the scheduling (much better than standing at the wall and pushing buttons). The second night I had it, I was in bed and thought the house seemed a little cold. I grabbed my iPhone off the night stand, pulled up the thermostat and increased the temperature all without getting out of bed - too cool. I am now on vacation for an extended period - I have the thermostat set to send me an e-mail alert if the temperature in my house gets below 55 degrees so I have piece of mind knowing my pipe's won't freeze while I'm gone. Additionally I've been able to log on and monitor the temperature from my vacation spot. Now, there is a service fee, but at $10 a YEAR (not a month like a previous reviewer stated) - it is a small price to pay for the ease of use and piece of mind. $10 a year - honestly, I wish my cable and cell phone bill's were so reasonable. This is the best thermostat I have ever owned and it's been fun to show off to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by HandySometimes Huge Value compared to others I shopped!
This product is easy to use, and great in my beach home! I'm glad I didn't base my purchase on the other review, because the fee is $9.99 a year and is really a wash when you way the pluses. The app was free in itunes, and easy to navigate as well!
