Answer:
Yes it will. You may have to simply program it according to the included instructions using your previously installed receiver. However, if your receiver is bad, then simply install the new receiver and use with either remote. Simple.

Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I installed 4 of these 3 years ago. Installation was a bit tricky with other brand fan, but easy enough to figure out. All the fan wires were labelled. Great for the whole family to use, just need to keep track of the remote with the young ones. Only issue is when you have a power outage, when the power comes back on, the lights come on. First time it happened when I was away and thought someone had been in my house. Because the light switch or power is on all the time, when the power comes back on so does the light, but not the fan. Always know when the power goes off, a bit unnerving when it happens in the middle of the night and you are sleeping. Just bought a new house and going to get 4 more units for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, simple installation instructions. Just installed a new Hunter fan, low profile installation. Replaced an older Hunter fan that still works fine afer 15+ years, just wanted an updated look and a light which old fan did not have. Thought remote would be a nice addition. Very simple install, remote fit fine inside canopy of new fan, easy to understand wiring instructions. Using with existing wall switch which now is just left on. Worked first time. Home Depot salesman helpful and advised leaving wall switch in place-I had considered direct wire install or using a dual wall switch. Most of the dual control wall switches seemed flimsy-there was a display in the store. Remote saved me from having to install 14/3 wire to get two separate switches-one for fan and one for light. Be sure to have fan pull-chain set on high speed so you can adjust fan speeds from remote! Best of all my son and wife are thrilled. You can do it! Only took a few extra minutes since I was already going to wire up the new fan. Time will tell regarding durability, may consider adding to several other existing fans. Could improve by using more economical battery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good remote Nothing bad to say really. The one thing I would mention is that if the power goes out, once it comes back the fan light will turn on. If you are sleeping or away from the house it will be inconvenient. Hunter makes another type of remote that functions the same way, but will not turn the light on when the power is restored after an outage. I have both types at home. I placed the latter in my daughter's nursery so it won't wake her if this happens. Installation is very easy and straight forward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nifty! Remotes should all be standard on ceiling fans, but until they are this one is fantastic! The gizwiz that goes inside the base of the ceiling fan is a bit big. The electrician despaired that he'd be able to get it into the base. I didn't consider that when I bought the fan. My bad. But the electrician finagled it in somehow and all is well. Operates the fan and the light like a champ. No problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it was hard to put in, and wont fit every fan, but it works great. the receiver is pretty large, this means that it doesn't fit in the fan housing if the fan is normal. the receiver fit my fan because i had a huge light that hugged the ceiling that i used as a installation location. the other issue was there was no real mounting hardware, so i cut the package up and ran a few drywall screws thought that, anchored it ot the ceiling, inside the light housing. that worked. the receiver is really to big to fit in a standard j-box, and if your fan has just a normal housing ive no idea how they intend it to be installed. perhaps they could offer a youtube in the instruction. my install all done, we put everything back together. boy it works great, it turns a regular single switch into a normal fan switch, with separate on off for the fan, it comes with a mounting plate to put it right over the light switch. that works great. i installed in my 5 year olds room so he can turn his fan and light on and off separately, easy as could be for him. it even has a light dimmer so if you want to turn them down just simply hold the button down. great features, worth the cash.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work properly It has programming electronically. The power needs to be disconnected to reprogram. If it looses power it looses programming and you have to go up to the fan and disconnect the power to reset it then reprogram the fan. If there are other fans in the house they cross programmed to other rooms. I am returning them to get remotes with dip switches. I have installed over 50 of them and have had no problems The new technology sounded good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Has two serious flaws. This receiver has poor dimming ability for incandescent bulbs. It constantly makes them pulsate/flicker at lower levels. One major defect or perhaps "hidden safety feature" from Hunter is that it shuts down completely if it doesn't like the CFL bulbs you decide to use, fan and all. Only way to restore functionality is to turn off the power and back on to reset it. The pros outweigh the cons, but I'm still on the fence about this unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died after two years with minimal usage Problem: The fan's lights come on after I turn on the wall switch. Nothing else works. Steps to fix the issue: 1. Replaced the battery on the remote; the LED on the remote was working 2. Turned the wall switch off for a minute and turn it back on, pressed 1 and 3 button together and hold it for 5 seconds as instructed on the remote. Nothing happens. 3. Checked the dip switch on the remote. Repeated step 2, no luck. Some people mentioned that receiver unit is poorly made, I am assuming that it is the case. A universal fan remote that costs 40 USD, this unit should have at least 5 years warranty. My next step is to remove the receiver and run the fan without a remote. I cannot recommend this product due to such short lifespan.
