No flush-mounted ceiling fan can be mounted with a downrod, it is only made for a flush mount.

Answer:
Hi Kathie,
Yes, you can install a remote control system on this fan, or really any that doesn't already have one.
The trick is to install the receiver inside the junction box where it comes in contact with the fan's canopy.
Make sure the remote syncs up with it, and you'll have a working remote for your fan.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 36 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice upgrade Bought this fan to replace my smaller bedroom fan. It's a nice upgrade and keeps my bedroom nice and cool. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2 Fans I purchased 2 of these fans in Summer 2012. Installed one in the living room, the other in the master bedroom. Both run approx. 24/7 when we're at home. The bedroom is 16'x16', the living room is larger, and the fans move air and keep the rooms comfortable. They are more challenging to install than the typical fan, but they do look great! However..... 2 days ago (5/28/2016), the one in the bedroom just stopped running. No warnings, no prior issues with the fan motor, it just stopped. Light still worked. Otherwise, they have been great fans. I replaced it with the Hunter Grand Cayman 54-inch model. May 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Viente 52 in. Indoor Roman Bronze Flushmount Ceiling Fan Love the look of the fan but it was difficult to install the flush mount without a second person and second ladder. June 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by flushmount ceiling fan Good looking ceiling fan.Easy to install. Putting screws in shroud a little daunting. May 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by construction not good this is a beautiful fan. i purchased it about a year & a half ago. coordinates with everything in my bedroom. this fan replaced a 20 yr old fan that was stylishly out of date. the old fan was working perfectly. the end of the fall season while dusting the fan i noticed a crack from the ceiling to the bottom of the motor housing. noticed this on another review. their pics looked just like my fan with the crack. just called & emailed hunter. waiting for a response. am a little concerned because i saw on another review that hunter doesn't have the part to replace damaged one & customer was offered a discount on another fan. if it has a lifetime warranty, why couldn't the fan be replaced? March 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice looking, until the cracks developed in the decorative cover piece. Fan installed okay, it is slightly more dificult to install than others I have installed. Looked great for the first year then cracks started developing in the decorative cover piece. I contacted Hunter and they said no replacement part is available. I don't understand this, since they have made this fan for atleast five years. Seems to me a stand up company would be able to provide a replacement part. Only offered a discount on a new fan. Why would I buy another Hunter fan? February 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Favorite Ceiling Fan This is the second Hunter Viente ceiling fan we purchased. The first one we had a couple years but stayed with the house when we moved. I love the fan, it matched furniture color and style, so when we recently purchased another home I bought one for the master bedroom.. We haven't had any problems, it is very quiet, doesn't wobble, puts out a lot of airflow, and looks beautiful. The light is not real bright but perfect for a bedroom. Husband said pretty easy installation, about an hour. January 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the quality I expected from Hunter I purchased this model of fan approximately 4 years ago (April 2012). I installed it in our master bedroom (11 foot ceiling) where it has received moderate use, that is, we only use it perhaps 30 – 40% of the time. Our home has central heating and air. It runs quietly, moves the air well on all speeds, and stays in balance. Recently I noticed that the ends of the blades appeared to be drooping, and when I removed them from the fan and placed them on a flat surface they were all noticeably warped and bowed. I found this disappointing as I have other fans in my home that are 25+ years old and the blades look as straight as when they were new. The warranty is only for one year, so I had to spend $40 for replacement blades, hardware (you have to buy a set of packaged hardware just to get the grommets), and tax, which was cheaper than a new fan. I expected better quality from the Hunter brand. February 22, 2016
