Customer Questions & Answers

Will it cut Schedule 80?

I'm trying to build a table out of plastic conduit and I'm trying to find the easiest way to cut it.
Asked by: MsMagieMae
This Huskey PVC ratcheting cutter will cut shedule 80 up to 1-1/4 inch. The difference between schedule 40 and schedule 80 is the inside diameter. It will take a bit more effort to cut schedule 80, but it will do it quite easily. As always, keep the blade in good sharp condition and replace it when necessary. Wear safety glasses!!!

How do I obtain replacement blades?

The blade that ratchets down broke. I would like to order two replacements.
Asked by: RLW
Don't know about on-line but my local store stocks them right next to the cutter. The should also be available from HD on-line but I rarely purchase small items from the web page so not sure.

Where do I find blades for the Huskly 1-1/4 In. PVC Ratcheting Cutter????

Asked by: Junior
I always try Home Depot first and I included that link below. I simply typed in blades for Husky PVC cutter. The Home Depot search engine is awesome. Another option I've used in the past is to stop at the information desk at the front entrance to Home Depot. They have been very helpful as well. I hope this information help you.

I had one for years that i loaned to a co-worker and some how it got broken. I was shocked as I had used it for several years, dropped it and banged it and never had any problems with it. I called the hotline and they could not replace the part that had broken so they replaced the entire unit. I am a contractor and use this cutter on a regular basis. It's key to being able to do a great job. Husky/Home Depot replaced it without question and I was pleased to find a company that actually stood behind their warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To all the 1 stars who say it wont cut 1.5 inch diameter.. PVC pipe is measured by interior diameter. The outside diameter is more than the interior. SO grade 40 pipe of 1 1/4 diameter (interior) has an outside diameter of 1 5/8. Hence this will cut up to 1 1/4 pipe, and so it's correctly described to cut 1 5/8 outside diameter. As you can see they have changed the title to reflect 1 1/4 cause it confuses ppl who are new to pipe cutting. A 1 1/2 inch pipe has an outside diameter of 1 7/8 inches. There was no false advertising. Grade 80 pipe has an even longer outside diameter for the same interior.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Questionable Product As someone else has stated, this cutter slips while cutting 1" schedule 80 PVC pipe, therefore not allowing the pipe to sit flat or flush in the fittings. This tool did NOT come with a replacement blade, and is impossible to find LOCALLY. For $25+TAX they should have thrown in an additional blade (or two).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wouldn't buy it again. Instructions on label were accurate. The spare blade is easily accessible. My problem is that the tool lasted all on 17 cuts until the blade support broke while cutting a piece of 1 1/2" CPVC. I had to go find the old Harbor Freight cutters that I had been disparaging to finish the job. Lesson learned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seriously question the quality of this pvc ratcheting cutter. Promoted product overview: "Use this Cutter for PVC, CPVC, PEX Pipe, wood, thick rope, branches, and an endless array of items that are otherwise very difficult to cut." Well, I cut the bottom third of a plastic bottle of hand scrub/wash and the inside spring mechanism broke. Now the blade will not swing open when you cock the handles apart. Am returning this cutter for replacement and we'll see if the replace tool can do its job as advertised. Would not recommend this product right now.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cuts easily, but way out of square I bought this in hopes that it would be easier for my wife to use cutting 1" schedule 40 PVC. The cutter went through the pipe easier than the other cutters we have, BUT, there is a major design or assembly flaw in the cutter hinge. There is so much slop in the fit of the blade between the forks that the cutter can, and does, wander pretty much wherever it wants to thru the cut. I tried different holds and very carefully watching and trying to guide the cutter straight as it went through the pipe to no avail. On the up side it is sharp and seems to cut easily. The longer handle gives more leverage than the typical PVC cutter. If I was cutting lots of rope or other material where a square end cut did not matter I would say it is a great cutter. But if you are involved in projects like mine where you need to cut PVC pipe square on the ends you will end up making a trip back to the store, same as I did, to return the cutter. Too bad. With a bit of development and some better engineering it could be a great cutter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cutter! Finally a cutter that really slices through heaver PVC with ease! I know of no other tool on the market like it. Been a plumber for 25 years and this works the best I have seen. Only complaint is THD doesn't throw in an extra blade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from straight cuts, no burs If you have a lot of plumbing in your future or even a kitchen and bath remodel, it's worth picking up a PVC cutter. For yrs, I opted not to buy one because "I don't do that much plumbing". Instead, I would use a hacksaw or lug out a sawsaz which worked but gave crocked cuts and lots of burs. Finally picked up this Husky PVC cutter and couldn't be happier. Works with 2 inch and smaller pipe. Clean straight cuts without any burs. Easily fits in a tool bucket and tool chest and is the same price as competitive PVC cutterse.
