Customer Questions & Answers

do you have sockets bigger than an inch and a quarter

Asked by: lexor
Lexor,1-1/4 is currently the largest socket we offer in 1/2 in drive. We make sockets up to 2 in if you want to step up to the 3/4 in drive platform.

What steel are these made from and are they Chrome moly?

Asked by: john
I don't see it mentioned on the case or individual sockets anywhere, but considering the level of use I've put these through in the 6 months i've owned them (used every day professionally), I'd say they have to be CroMo, as they stand up just as well to heavy use as the rest of my impact sockets.

the 3/4/13/16 socket cracked on me and I don't have my receipt. Can I still get the socket replaced?

Only had the socket set for about 2 months before it cracked. And I only used it to remove lug nuts off vehicles.
Asked by: OtterMan
Otterman, you do not need a receipt to exchange any Husky Mechanics Hand Tools. Simply take the damaged item into a store they can replace your damaged socket.

My impact wrench is a 18v Chicago Electric model 60380 and the extension line up flush with the ball tip only.
Asked by: al
Al, it looks like your impact wrench has a hog ring retention system. When pushing the extension onto the wrench you need to use enough force to compress the split ring to get the socket or extension onto the wrench. This ring is designed to hold the socket in place when it's spinning at high RPM so it is sometimes difficult to compress the ring especially on a new wrench.

When traveling, I usually take a cordless impact driver with me. This kit is a great accessory to go with the impact driver. I would highly recommend getting this kit, for home and travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Socket Set This is a solid set for removing wheel lugs with a 1/2in Impact Gun. I've used these every day for the last 6 months at work doing tires, brakes, etc and they've held up pretty well. The finish wears off pretty quickly, but the sockets themselves are perfectly functional. If you plan on using these at work as I do, you'll most likely want to pick up a metric deep socket set as well, as there are lug nut sizes that aren't covered by this set. That being said, this set does cover 80-90% of the cars I see at work. Also, if you have a long-anvil Impact gun, you'll be able to work faster since you'll be able to use the sockets without going for the extension every time. The case is rugged enough to survive constant opening/closing and being moved, pushed across the floor, dropped occasionally from 3-5 feet, etc. All in all, I have no regrets about buying this set and I'd do it again if I had to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kit It is much more than you expect to have in compact and very useful kit. Easy to carry and versatile at the same time. Finally a good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cleaver Compact Set This is a nice alternative to buying a full set of SAE and metric impact sockets. The double ended design is also quite cleaver. There is a squre drive in the center and a different sized socket on each end. In this way, you get six sizes with only four pieces (three sockets and one extension to reach the square drive in the center). The kit comes in a nice plastic storage case. The pieces all came covered in a light oil or rust preventative of some kind. That was slightly annoying and seems unncessary as the pieces are all black oxide coated, but it wiped right off. Overall this is a very nice little set and I would definitely recommend it if you don't need or want the full sets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Handy Bought this set of impact sockets for changing tires. Nice compact case and dual sockets. Has worked well each time I have used them. The level of quality is good to my eye. The price was very competitive. In summary this set was exactly what I was looking for and has performed as I expected it would.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have mixed feeling about this set. I have mixed feeling about this set. On one hand, it is nice having 6 different size sockets in a compact case. It is also nice having two sizes in one socket. On the other hand, they are slightly taller then a deep well socket without the advantages of a deep well sockets. They can also be a problem when getting into tight spaces because the socket does not mount directly to the impact wrench. The sockets seam to be solidly constructed, and come in a nice case that keeps them organized. This is good because they will not work with normal socket organizers. Because of the way the sockets work, you also get a short extension that you can use with other sockets. Bottom line - for occasional use, or service work, they are handy. If you are working on machinery all day, you are probably going to want a traditional socket set.
