I discovered this product years ago when I started experimenting with low tunnels and winter growing. I wanted to design a hoop tunnel that used standard off the shelf products that anyone could have access to. I have since taken this to the point where I offer community outreach presentations using plans that utilize all parts and supplies from Home Depot. In return, Home Depot has recognized this effort and has been great at supporting me through various events.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Janus Shed Covering for Winter
Pros:I wanted a covering for my shed to prevent leakage damage from ice and snow to the shed and it's contents. This is the 3rd year I have stapled this heavy Polyethylene Sheeting covering onto my 8 X 12 shed. This covering stays in place all winter long and keeps the shed dry.
Cons: The Polyethylene Sheeting only lasts for one year and begins to disintegrate after that time. It should be removed before this occurs as it is very difficult to pick up the crumbling pieces.

I built a hoop-style greenhouse three years ago and covered it with this 6 mil clear plastic. It held up fine until this fall. The uv rays finally got to it and I had to spend another $25 to recover the frame. I love this product. It lasted 3 times what I expected it to do. On seams where I had to cut the plastic I joined pieces with carpet tape and then covered exterior seams with gorilla tape. Worked fine through wind, rain, tree branches, sun light for a solid two-plus years before needing any repair.

I wanted this sheeting for an indoor aquaponic tank and worked perfectly for my purpose. It's durable, and is holding up just fine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JLNZ Great protective plastic for painting and as a runner on new carpet.
I have used this type of product in the past. When I wanted something to protect new carpet from pet debris, I was glad to find the perfect 6 mil sheeting in a 25 ft roll. I leave it in the layered panels that unfold from the roll and secure it with carpet tape in one long runner for hallway.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ZooMama great for hoop beds.
It was suggested to me that I get 6mil polyethylene sheeting as a less expensive alternative to actual greenhouse plastic. I was able to make hoop covers for two 4x4 8" depth raised beds with some extra left over for small area cover to warm the soil in early spring or cover smaller beds. Coming up on the 3rd year now of use and the plastic has held up well to wind, weather and UV. Completely clear plastic encourages the growth of mosses and molds in my experience, and the more opaque 'clear' of this plastic is better, it catches enough light to hold in the heat energy of the sunlight to keep already grown lettuces, collards, carrots and herbs healthy and green, or in the spring to warm up the soil to give you a head start or to create more warmth in summer in chiller climes to grow tomatoes!

I think it will work great for my DIY greenhouse. How many commercial greenhouses do you see with clear plastic? Totally clear plastic will, in my opinion, get too hot inside.

Building a 30' X 12' PT Deck and decided to use this 6 mil plastic instead of weed barrier covered with 2" of crushed shell beneath the deck. Experience has shown the plastic to be superior to the barrier at a fraction of the cost....... time will tell
