Questions & Answers

will this compressor fill the air in suv tires?

I have a Nissan xterra suv and I wanted to know if this was good for filling my tires up with air.
Asked by: johnny
Yes! I had one for years and it worked on my SUV. It finally quit, and I'm picking up another one today.

Does the car have to be running?

Does the car have to be running to use the inflator when plugged into the car power or can the car starter switch just be in the acc position?
Asked by: Len
The compressor gives you the option to plug into home 120v outlet via extension cord (OR) the option to plug into 12v from your car ...to answer your question..it actually depends on what vehicle you own and which 12v plug in the vehicle you use....but i would recommend to have car running since this specific compressor is slow to pump up tires and not good idea to drain battery for extended period of time, especially if you are already on the side of the road.

Can it be used for inflating and deflating, idealy for large pool floats

Having a tool that can fill out big floats would be grreat, but if it can deflate that would be even better
Asked by: Mike
No it will not work with items such as water toys that are large in size.

How long is the 12v cord and how long is the 120v cord?

Asked by: kdss57
I haven't used the 12v cord but suspect it is long enough to reach all four tires. The 120v cord is short (maybe 1ft) so you'll need an extension cord.

It's powerful enough to inflate large-volume automotive tires and high pressure bicycling tires. But, the chuck that you push onto the tire eventually breaks out of the hose and Husky does not seem to provide any replacement part. As far as I can tell you can not buy a new tire chuck and use a hose clamp to secure it to the remaining air hose. 3-5 year life span with moderate home use. But I love the dual power source feature. If only they provided a way to repair or replace the air hose. The owners manual says "See HuskyTools.com". Well, that site diverts to a Home Depot site. It does not provide any replacement parts for this model and it does steer you toward a lot of other Home Depot products and services. Next time I'll get something I can keep in operation a little longer. I'm guessing that I bought mine about 5 years ago. Now I have to throw out a working compressor because I can't replace the air hose.

Husky needs to reevaluate the motor on this particular praduct in my opinion

Purchased yesterday and tried to inflate car tires, which were about 3 lbs low. It took nearly half hour for a tire to inflate. Rate is so slow, so I'm returning unit. Used only in the 120 V .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY NICE! Just set the pressure, and it stops automatically once it reaches that pressure. Wit... VERY NICE! Just set the pressure, and it stops automatically once it reaches that pressure. With todays aluminum rims, they tend to corrode and seal leaks between the tire and rim are more common than not. I was airing up one tire evey other day until i had it re-sealed. This is nice beause I can plug it in at home, take it with me, and in emergency situations (like if it is low at work) I can plug it into the cigarette lighter and I NEVER need to drive with a low tire. Even with "fix a flat", or a similar product, you should let the air out of the tire to get all the product in. With this, you can then get the tire to normal pressure and drive around to get "fix a flat" spread through the tire and not have to drive an inch with 1/4 to 1/2 pressure.

The unit failed Nov 16, just right after the 2 year warranty expired. While the unit still turns on perfectly, air leaks from the seams of the fabric where it connects with the metallic piece (see picture). It's quite possible that the metal piece somehow punctured the fabric and the inner tube with use, allowing air to leak from the hose. The unit got me in a dangerous situation that left me wondering why the inflator was not working to inflate my car (pressure was staying steady and slowly decreasing rather than going up). By the time I figured out that air was leaking from the hose, half of my tire was already deflated, and TPMS activated. Luckily I was in the same parking lot as a Sears and was able to get a different inflator there. Since the hose is not a replaceable item and there is no way to repair it besides warrantying it for a new unit, the unit I have essentially is a brick. If you want something that you can rely on that will last, go buy something of quality and from someone who will stand behind their products!

I purchased this inflator to replace an older one that had finally worn out. There are a few things I really like about this inflater; 1) 12V from the vehicle or 110V from the garage.... Great! The old one was 12V only so always had to use a vehicle power port even in inflating the bike tires, wheel barrow or whatever..... Now just plug in anywhere. 2) Set & forget..... Hook it up, set the desired inflation pressure and just walk away.... Listen for it to turn off and disconnect. 3) Everything self-stores as where the old one you kind of had to wrap cords around it which was a mess.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great I use this inflator mostly to inflate the airbags I have on my trucks rear axle. I really like the function where you can set the pressure you want and it will automatically stop at that pressure. I found the pressure gauge on it to be quite accurate. The 12V power cord however was about 6 feet shorter than I needed and I had to buy an extension cord for it, but other than that it has served my needs quite well thus far. It is a bit bulky to store sufficiently inside the cab of my truck somewhere, but obviously that doesn't keep me from keeping it in my cab for those times when I need it. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I made the mistake of buying cheap tires and now have to inflate them at least once a week. My old, cheaper inflator died and I went to Home Depot looking for a new one. This particular model has all the features that I was looking for. It can be powered by a 110 outlet or the 12 V power outlet in my truck. It has accessories for all types of inflation. The best part? You set the gauge to the pressure that you want, turn it on, and it shuts off when it gets to the right PSI. I would recommend this model for sure.
