Customer Questions & Answers

will this compressor fill the air in suv tires?

I have a Nissan xterra suv and I wanted to know if this was good for filling my tires up with air.
Asked by: johnny
Yes! I had one for years and it worked on my SUV. It finally quit, and I'm picking up another one today.

Does the car have to be running?

Does the car have to be running to use the inflator when plugged into the car power or can the car starter switch just be in the acc position?
Asked by: Len
The compressor gives you the option to plug into home 120v outlet via extension cord (OR) the option to plug into 12v from your car ...to answer your question..it actually depends on what vehicle you own and which 12v plug in the vehicle you use....but i would recommend to have car running since this specific compressor is slow to pump up tires and not good idea to drain battery for extended period of time, especially if you are already on the side of the road.

Can it be used for inflating and deflating, idealy for large pool floats

Having a tool that can fill out big floats would be grreat, but if it can deflate that would be even better
Asked by: Mike
No it will not work with items such as water toys that are large in size.

How long is the 12v cord and how long is the 120v cord?

Asked by: kdss57
I haven't used the 12v cord but suspect it is long enough to reach all four tires. The 120v cord is short (maybe 1ft) so you'll need an extension cord.

It's powerful enough to inflate large-volume automotive tires and high pressure bicycling tires. But, the chuck that you push onto the tire eventually breaks out of the hose and Husky does not seem to provide any replacement part. As far as I can tell you can not buy a new tire chuck and use a hose clamp to secure it to the remaining air hose. 3-5 year life span with moderate home use. But I love the dual power source feature. If only they provided a way to repair or replace the air hose. The owners manual says "See HuskyTools.com". Well, that site diverts to a Home Depot site. It does not provide any replacement parts for this model and it does steer you toward a lot of other Home Depot products and services. Next time I'll get something I can keep in operation a little longer. I'm guessing that I bought mine about 5 years ago. Now I have to throw out a working compressor because I can't replace the air hose.

I purchased this inflator to replace an older one that had finally worn out. There are a few things I really like about this inflater; 1) 12V from the vehicle or 110V from the garage.... Great! The old one was 12V only so always had to use a vehicle power port even in inflating the bike tires, wheel barrow or whatever..... Now just plug in anywhere. 2) Set & forget..... Hook it up, set the desired inflation pressure and just walk away.... Listen for it to turn off and disconnect. 3) Everything self-stores as where the old one you kind of had to wrap cords around it which was a mess.

Husky needs to reevaluate the motor on this particular praduct in my opinion

Super easy to use. Takes a little while if you need a significant amount of air (i.e. not as powerful as a large air compressor), but for something this small and inexpensive, works much better than I had anticipated. Only complaint is that the 120V cord is very short, so to plug in at home you'll need an extension cord. Didn't use the 12V, but checked the cord and that appears to be plenty long for roadside emergencies.

Works well as a tire pump, not so much as a ball pump, has problem with pressure readings below 12 lbs. Doors at each end that store cords and hoses are tough to open initially. Would still recommend based on price.

My MKZ has an unrepairable slow leak on the pax-side rear tire, and am awaiting a replacement through Costco tire center. I've been losing about 10 PSI per day, so adding air daily at local gas stations (at $1 per pop) to ride on fully-inflated tires. In order to avoid that cost, and to have peace of mind with an on-board inflator for my auto and home use, I decided to look at low-cost inflators. I focused on the low-cost Husky HY120, 120-Volt only power source. In the end, I decided to go for the more expensive (~ $50 total) HD12120 product, which features optional 12V or 120V power sourcing. Today, I had my first experience with this inflator. The HD12120 took my tire from 20.5 PSI to the specified 33 PSI in about 2.5 minutes, about 12 seconds per PSI. I appreciate the digital PSI counter (versus the analog display on the HY120), and automatic shut-off when the target PSI is achieved. And the product doesn't make a huge racket, which I've read about with other inflator products. Only one usage so far - but so far so good! If this continues to do the job until my new tire arrives, I'm thinking about getting another one for my wife who commutes 90 miles / day round-trip for work. Added peace of mind!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time Use Review Walked out to garage and wife's tire was flat. I searched Google for tire inflators, found this product through search, Google let me know they had it in stock, I used the mobile app to find the location in the store, was in and out of the store in minutes. The inflator has a nice digital display. I set the PSI to 45, clicked on the start button (button on far right with a black vertical line) and eight minutes later I went from 3 psi to 45 psi and the unit shut off after a job will down in 8 minutes and 8 seconds. I plugged the unit into the wall for 120V. Did not test the cigarette lighter option to power the device. Compartment is nice with all kinds of options, will use this for the kids bikes and various sports balls.
