Customer Questions & Answers

How do I change the blad in the Husik utility Knife ( Retractable Utility Knife)

Asked by: Bernard
It's pretty easy. There's a small button on the left side of the utility knife. You hold it down and that allows a door on the left side to slide down. You can then extend the blade and either flip it or replace it with a new one. To reassemble, retract the blade and close the door.

extra blades onboard

does this knife have a compaartment for extra blades, i have the older red husky knife, that holds 5 blades
Asked by: MAL612
It does not. You have one blade. Unlike some other knives, the opposite side of the blade remains very sharp.

2.4 in. Compact Retractable Utility Knife is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and simple! The knife is sturdy and the blades change easily. I use it daily--primarily on opening/cutting down boxes and pallets and on flooring materials (carpet, underlayment, sheet vinyl, and Allure resilient vinyl). I would have preferred a lighter knife but this one feels solid and has performed well for me for a few months now.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Eh... I bought this after having lost my Craftsman folding utility knife, for the straight design and retracting blade. Positives: -Thin -Rides nice in pocket -Light -Easy to change blades Negatives -Blade doesn't retract very well unless you oil the areas of friction first. -The lock button slips out of position sometimes while in use, and allows the blade to retract. -For light use only -If blade stays open, any hard pressure puts the blade in a bind and will not retract unless you take the blade out and put it back in. All in all, the idea was good, but design not so much. This rides in my pocket for now, but will get another folder soon and this knife will probably spend the rest of it's life in a drawer somewhere, unless I give it away, but I wouldn't recommend buying it. Get a good folder if you are looking for a pocket utility knife.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from nice I like this knife it's heavy durable and just nice all aroun. It's great for most use but not roofing as the roofing parts get stuck in the slide making it difficult and annoying to open or close the knife by the slide

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really nice knife if it retracted easily Nice knife except every time you make a cut you have to fiddlewith the blade to retract it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looked for 2yrs. to find the retractable utility knife by husky I bought a husky retractable utility knife over 2yrs. ago and loved it compared to the one you have to flip open. I always carry it in my pocket as I use it a lot at work. I kept going back to Homedepot for over 2yrs. because I wanted to buy a couple more to have at work. Finally, I was able to track one down. My personal favorite. Yet as the saying goes: To each their own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Knife I bought this for various day to day tasks at work and home. I was previously using a Buck 110 and felt I was putting needless wear and tear on the blade. This utility knife has a nice weight to it and has performed well so far. I use it to sharpen pencils, mark cut lines, cut dry wall and homasote, break down boxes, strip wire etc. It's super quick to change blades and the pocket clip makes it easy to grab while working. I just bought one for my father for the holidays.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Very Cool Knife! I've been using this knife for about the last month-- and only for light-duty stuff such as cutting taped boxes, since we're in the middle of a move. So I can't say much about how it will hold up or work for cutting sheetrock or other construction activities. I will tell you that it is really nice looking and has a great feel in the hand. I've been showing it to people who think it's an expensive knife-- then I tell them that it was about $10 at Home Depot :-) The mechanism that pushes the blade in and out has a very smooth action. Also, it's very easy to change the blade with the touch of a button and the pivoting of an attached metal door. No screws to take out or pieces to lose. So if you want a cool knife that you can enjoy for light duty jobs, you'll like this one. (To clarify, it feels very sturdy and strong, so I'm not implying that it's not good for heavy duty jobs. Just can't comment on that just yet.)
