I used the putty knife for an hour filling holes from nail pops. I put it in some water for about 3 minutes while I went to get paper towels to clean them off. When I came back they already had rust on the edge. I have some stainless steel putty/drywall knives I picked up from a certain store that sells cheap tools. Those still look brand new after multiple uses. Maybe more isn't always better, sometimes it's just more.

I decided to pay extra and get the better quality putty knife out of the available options, especially since there is a "forever guarantee". I'm happy with the stiffness of the blade and the durable/comfortable handle. However, I used it twice, washed it, and left it. Came back and noticed it already had some rusty areas around the end of the blade. I didn't realize I had scratched it or worn away any layers, but I was disappointed.
