Could be, the unit is refurbished by the factory. So if the tank was defective the tank was replaced. But, my tank wasn't replaced. In fact, I couldn't determine which part was replaced.

To the best of my knowledge the entire unit is refurbished, not new. When I got mine there was some rusty water that came out of the tank the first time I purged it. Does not appear to effect the operation.

Answer:
Almost all air tools have a cfm rating on them, since compressor is rated for 4.3 cfm at 90 psi an air tool that requires 9 cfm at 90 to run is only going to run 4 or 5 minutes before the compressor falls behind. You are looking at a much larger compressor to run a cutting tool continuously. The lower psi rating on compressors is really only relavant to paint guns and such that run at only 40 psi.

Answer:
Takes about 3-4 minutes to refill. Cutting tools will take a bigger tank for continuous use. Something like a 60 gallon tank would go well for continuous.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 205 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor reconditioning job First, the product arrived damaged. The plastic shroud covering the compressor was smashed. After taking the broken part off, I discovered that none of the airlines had been tightened, and the pipe fittings were loose as well. It seems someone just slapped a rebuilt compressor motor on,painted the tank and called it good. Since this is the perfect unit for my needs, rather than return it, I took the couple of hours and finished their sloppy job and the thing works great, save being missing the shroud. Home Depot customer service said they would send me a new shroud, so I think it should be fine. Just expected more from my favorite hardware store. June 26, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful motor We chose the 20 Gallon Electric Air Compressor to blow out our sprinklers. It's powerful motor made a quick and easy job of the process and over time will save us a lot of money doing the job ourselves. We use it for many other things like inflating our tires, friends tires, family's tires, you get the picture...it's convenient. Worth the extra money to get the big dog with the 1.8 HP motor. FYI, we went to the Monster's Inc Halloween Night with our family at the Parker location and our kids had a blast! They got to build a tool box and put all their candy in it from the vendors. Free popcorn and free coca-cola products! Make plans to go next year, it's not your same ol' Halloween stuff. November 10, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SO FAR SO GOOD I was hesitant to order this compressor after reading some of the horror stories in the reviews, but bought it anyway. Figured HD would stand behind it no matter what, they are that good in my experience. Only got this item this week but other than having to replace the quick disconnect outlet (leaked badly) the compressor works as advertised. Plan on using it for relatively light work but keeping my fingers crossed. It pressurized up to stated pressure in about 6 minutes and cycles on and off correctly. Like the large 20 gallon tank. Not much wear on the paint and such, shipping box protected it well. July 27, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Obviously poorly reconditioned This product performs well, however, the quality of the "Reconditioning" is poor. Plastic bezel around gauges is cracked in two places and the tank was repainted in a slightly different color and in a very poor manner. (Paint is already flaking off) Also, some decals are peeling off. Granted, the cosmetic slopiness does not affect performance, however, more care needs to be taken in the process of refurbishing. In addition, the hardware necessary to install the wheels and rubber snubber would not fit the axles. I had to buy the hardware to complete the assembly. Not the quality one would expect from The Home Depot. I would cautiously recommend this product. Quality control needs to be improved. October 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seems Good To Me! Looked brand new out of the box and the only issue was a missing scew/bolt for the rubber foot on the front. No worries I've got more nuts, bolts, scews and washers than I'll ever use so that was a five minute fix. The compressor so far works great and is way better than my small 3 gallon compressor that I have now and is really only usefull for filling tires with air. Cycled it as suggested to break in the air pump, and I played around with an air ratchet and it is going to almost be fun doing truck maintenance now! I say this is a pretty good deal for the advanced handyman/shade tree mechanic! July 20, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by went bad after the 3rd use had one of these for less than a month. used it 3 times for about 15 mins each to fix some cracks in the basement. the compressor was broke in properly and in a different room do to the dust from the cracks. after usage it was drained for storage in my basement. pulled it out today because the compressor and coils on my fridge needed some cleaning. plugged it in and turned it on and nothing happened. took it back and got another one. we will see how long this one last....all in all good price and will power everything i need it to do....just hope it last longer than the first one. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for... I purchased this as a replacment for a Campbell Hausfield that was about 7 years old and served me well as a general purpose compressor. I saw the Husky refurb at $20 less than a new one - figured I could save a few dollars for the same product. Overall so far it has performed as expected - it is quieter than the CH. But when received the plastic cover was broken in multiple places. It's not worth taking back to the store @ 80lbs. And for the most part the compressor is out of site in my garage. Its just disappointing more than anything than I tried to save a little money and got exactly what I paid for a product that had $20 worth of broken parts on it. I just hope the mechanical quality lasts at least as long as the CH. January 3, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by incredible for the price Honestly I wanted the Dewalt. When I looked online it said you might like this...so I clicked. I was very surprsied at the price. I ordered immediately. I run a paint buisness from my home painting motorcycles. This keeps up with my HVLP no problem. also keeps up with my DA and mini polisher. I don't go full tilt like one painting a car would but this compressor is more than adequate for the home DIY person. Only complaint is it is slightly noisy compared to the dewalt. but considering the savings I can buy about 3,000 sets of ear plugs with my extra money. October 4, 2012
