I converted my crawlspace from a traditional vented crawlspace to a conditioned crawlspace in 2013. GREAT Choice. Home is much warmer with less humidity. I can not express how good of a deal this is as a vapor barrier. It is almost impossible to pierce or puncture. I also crack-up my friends with the photos of my new crawlspace. The ONLY downside is that Home Depot does not stock the tape for the product. WE REALLY NEED THE TAPE TOO because your vapor barrier is only really useful if you tape the seams. Using a product that is not made for this could degrade the material or prove ineffective over time. Therefore, I hope HD will start stocking the tape soon. I was able to buy the tape from another online store, but the shipping was more expensive than the tape. In summation, GREAT PRODUCT THAT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. But HD needs to carry the tape and accessories as well.

I used the membrane for Radon remediation under my house. I have a climbing gym under a portion of our house which is shown in the photo. I ran 4" drain pipe around the perimeter of the foundation and pinned the membrane to the block walls and sealed and taped all joints.

I was skeptical about the need for a vapor barrier in the crawl of my cottage at first. When I started shopping around, I discovered that most retailers do not even sell a plastic thick enough to qualify as vapor barrier. I ordered from Home Depot and it was delivered to my house. It was easy to use, it came neatly folded on a roll. I cut off the lengths that I needed with a pair of scissors and layed it down in the crawl. It was thick enough to step on without puncturing but thin enough that it could be folded and manipulated.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Goldfinger VERY THICK AND HEAVY
This is the perfect solution to your vapor/moisture barrier needs, especially under manufactured homes. I tried to use very large pieces to cut down on the amount of taping I would have to do. Do not try this. Its just too heavy to move around under a crawl space. A 30 foot long piece thats 20 feet wide is pretty heavy. This will certainly last longer than the garbage bag 6 mil thickness that they sell in the isle trying to pass itself off as vapror/moisture barrier. The cost will outweigh you having to do this for a long, long time. Excellent product!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by MyNicknameIsJohn Pricey, but provides 20' widths
This material is a 10mil water vapor barrier sheet which is certified to ASTM standards for tearing and puncture. It appears to be a single layer, not a laminated sheet which you'd find in gas barriers for hydrocarbon vapor---but those items are hard to purchase as a consumer. You can get a similar material with simple 10mil black plastic sheeting, but that will be 10' wide at most. The 20' width of this stuff means less seams to worry about sealing.
