I know some brands that require you to open the lid before the drawers can be slid out
is it the same with this model or can I just open any of the drawers with the lid down ?

thanks!

Answer:
Yes, the top lid needs to be opene to allow for drawers to slide open. This could be disengaged but I wouldn't because this is what prevents the drawers from sliding forward. This is a typical setup and should not been over ridden for safety reasons.

Answer:
There are five drawer and to include the lid which can store items too. You can store stuff in the lid of the drawers too. The depth is about three and half inches in depth. The first and second drawer depth is about one and a half in inches. The third through the fifth drawer is about two and a half inches in depth too. You can store a lot of tools inside these drawers without any problems.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 79 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Happy with purchase. Very useful I like this product. Bought it with a rolling cabinet. Rating is 4 star because the cabinet was damaged in transit due to poor packaging. There was a small dent in one corner, which I fixed and it does not impact the functionality of the product. I read other reviews that complained about the damage but was willing to take the risk because the product is an excellent buy. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent quality for the price. I ordered online delivery my store carry in stock. Most are reviews are bad due to delivery damage but is near perfect only issue I had was the lid shifted to the right. I easily fixed that by readjusting it. Mine is loaded down with a large socket kit, wrenches, soldering kits and hammmers. The drawers roll nice and smooth loaded or empty. The powder coating is nice and even. For price this chest is unbeatable. Other competing brands are easily double the price for less quality. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a well built tool chest. January 29, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy this - Damaged After reading multiple reviews from folks who received this tool chest damaged, I thought there was no way that would happen to me so I ordered one that was to be shipped to my local store. When I went to pick it up, the friendly staff slid it over to my cart, but they wouldn't help me lift it. I don't blame them - this thing weighs 71 pounds. I got it home, unpacked it and found that the bottom was so severely bent that the bottom drawer could not budge. It's quite obvious how this happened: someone along the way dropped this heavy tool chest and bent the bottom. The real problem lies in the packing. There is a very light duty strip of foam packaging that is supposed to protect this behemoth when it is dropped from waist high. Well guess what, it doesn't. This looks like it would be a very nice tool box if Home Depot would just spend a dollar more on the packaging to add better foam. Oh, and maybe write HEAVY or FRAGILE - DO NOT DROP on the side. Because clearly everyone thinks it is ok to drop it. Needless to say I returned this the next day and bought a Craftsman from Sears. The Craftsman is awesome by the way, and less than half the weight. June 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Second Box Damaged too First box that was shipped to the store eas damaged. They expedited the second box to my house. It was damaged also. Now I have to drive the second box back. Should have bought a Craftsman Box. Lesson learned. If you buy a tool box, have them open it. and you inspect it before you leave with it. May 4, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT PURCHASE Ordered this tool chest and received it damaged. Returned it to my local store about 20min away from me. They somehow had a floor model of the same box at the store and was going to trade it for that one and found that it was damaged as well. So we order another new one. I received it today and sure enough it is damaged in the same place as my first one. It's a shame because it is a nice looking box otherwise. Will not order another. Angry that I have to make another trip to the store. May 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Husky Tool Chest 5 Drawer 26" This was exactly what I needed and for only $99.00 what a bargain. I compared this to HF and Craftsman and this one came out on top for me. It;s a heavy box and seems to be constructed well enough for non-pro use so should last me a long time. I purchased it in my local store so I delt with no shipping issues. All of my drawer railings were tight and drawers fit snug so check these if you purchase this item, December 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Chest! It's a bit hefty, more than I would expect but it's solid! All the drawers work very well, smooth, and zero sag. I am very happy with the quality, and with how well this chest has been built. I have an old Craftsman tool chest that I was thinking of using and stacking this on top of it. But as I've thought more about it I've kinda wanted to just fix up the craftsman and sell it, and get a lower Husky chest to use with this one! I am very happy with my purchase, and I'm also happy it's entirely black! I've always liked black, but finding an entirely black tool chest is hard. Even Husky has it's black tool chests decorated with silver drawer grips versus this one that's entirely black. December 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Work of Art for Tools to Make Works of Art This is by far the most attractive drawer high value chest I've seen. A DIYer could put this in their living room and it'd look at home. The drawers roll super smooth. The bottom drawers are deep enough to put some power tools like impact, drills, etc. The tool box is being used for my electronic repair workbench. I was sick of digging through a traditional toolbox trying to find the right size micro screw driver. The top chest portion I'm using to put projects in progress. There is nothing negative I can say about this box. It's basically the quality of a high end 5 drawer chest for a very reasonable price. I like the solid black it looks classy. The drawers slide back, smooth, and latch tight. There's also a lock with two keys. Which locks the chest and all drawers, great if you have a son in law, wife, kids, or friends that like to "borrow tools" but never bring them back or put them back where they got them.
