Rated 4 out of 5Â by awgiedawgie Great toolbox. Mediocre wheels.
The toolbox itself is excellent - I liked the first one so much that I bought a second one three weeks later. Very smooth opening and closing of the drawers, even with heavy tools in them. I put rubber drawer liners in the drawers so the tools cannot slide around, because the drawers open and close so easily that I tend to slam them shut without even trying. Before I put the liners in, my tools would wind up at the back of the drawer after I slammed it shut. The casters and the handle are very easy to install. However, I discovered that the hard plastic casters that come with it are only so-so quality. They didn't swivel well, so it was a bit of a challenge to get the toolbox to roll in the direction I was actually pushing it. So when I bought my second toolbox, I put 5 inch rubber swivel casters on it instead of the ones that came with it (see the toolbox on the right in the photo). It is much easier to move the toolbox with the aftermarket casters than with the original ones.

I have two separated garage spaces. One area holds the cars and the other the lawn equipment, workbench area, etc. I need tools here, and I need tools there, and my toolbox is heavy. So I went looking for a tool cart to take them from one area to the other without getting a hernia. $99 for a spindly looking tool cart of dubious stability? I don't think so. So I started looking at base cabinets which are inherently more stable and offer much more closed storage. Of course I would love to have a Snap-On, MAC, Kennedy, etc. Who wouldn't? But I'm a homeowner, not a professional mechanic. I can't justify spending those kind of bucks for fairly light use. I saw this cab at HD just after it was reduced to $109 and thought it looked like a pretty fair deal. Just the size I needed. Even better when it was reduced even further to $99 on Black Friday. Sold! It was well packaged and without blemish when I took it out of the box. Assembly consisted of mounting the casters (nice with hard rubber wheels; note that you have to take out the bottom drawer first) and the handle (perfectly adequate). The drawers operate smoothly, but the lock sometimes doesn't engage all of the drawers. I'm going to cut a piece of plywood to put on top to add rigidity to support my chest and serve as a limited work surface. Weight limit is supposedly 600 pounds. I'm not sure I'd want to test that limit, but I don't own 600 pounds of small tools anyway. The 4 drawers are rated at 50 pounds each -- you're going to put 400 pounds on top? I don't think so.
As an analogy, we have three letter filing cabinets at work. One is a 30+ year old, famous name lateral file that cost a pretty penny but has withstood being opened and closed about 50 times per day and still looks good and works like new. It's like a Snap-On, MAC, or Kennedy. The other two are much less expensive and substantial with thinner sheet metal and more primitive slides. They're used to store documents only occasionally accessed. They hold a ton of stuff and have also worked well for decades. I would liken this base cab to those file cabinets. It will last a long time and stand up to my level of use just fine, and who could complain about the price?

I work as a machinist in a local shop. It works out great. The price and the quality are exceptional and would recommend it. Several of us have this at my shop.
