This Husky 4-Drawer 26 in. Tool Chest offers basic drawer storage options for a garage, toolshed, workshop or basement. The chest is made from high-grade all-welded steel construction and finished with tough industrial powder-coat paint. Ball-bearing slides hold up to 50 lbs. and let drawers move easily under heavy loads. Oversized full-width aluminum pulls make it easy for fingers of any size to open the drawers. The chest features a top till area for additional easy-access storage. The reinforced top lid is supported by gas struts which assist in opening and closing the lid; lifting the lid allows drawers to unlock. The recessed aluminum side handles make it easy to lift and move. A keyed internal locking system secures the chest drawers and till, and comes with two keys.

Are the drawers self latching?

They do not self latch, but they do push in to a fully closed detente position, and closing the lid then locks them closed.

Can drawers pull completely out

Yes, you can pull them out fully to access your tools, and also you release the slide mechanisms on either side and pull the drawer completely out.

Can you open drawers without opening top?

I have a 23" height shelf that I want to store this box on. I read that the box's height with the lid open is 25". I want to be able to open the drawers without having to open the lid. Is this possible?

Problem with the dimensions, however. It's not 14.8 inches in height, it's 16.8 inches in height. I bought it for a specific space because of the stated height. I had to find another less ideal place to put it. It would be nice if HD would get the dimensions listed in the specifications right. I read another review that said the same thing. I still give the box 5 stars. It holds a lot of tools, looks great, and is very well built.

As another reviewer mentioned, the packaging looked good upon arrival, but the chest itself is severely warped in one direction (possibly a manufacturing defect) meaning it wobbles significantly on the ground and the drawers all slope down to one side. The drawers and top do open and close, but require an extra push to latch and aren't as smooth as they should be. This seems like it would be an excellent item if everything lined up correctly, but after waiting a month to receive it - it was oversold during black friday - it was disappointing to get a flawed one that will be difficult to return or exchange because I live in NYC and can't simply drive it back to the nearest store.

The shipping box had a small puncture in it which turned out to reveal that something had penetrated and bent the upper rear left corner. There was also bend damage to the lower back, which made the lock mechanism not work properly, because the lowest drawer would not move into place correctly. With a little work, I bent both damaged places back into position. The lock mechanism then worked properly and the damaged corner was fixed but cosmetically not perfect. Fortunately, the drawers are all in tact and operating, as expected. I decided to put the unit into better condition rather than going through the trouble of a return. I expected more from Home Depot and Husky. They both let me down this time.

Lock also does not work well. The pistons in top draw get in the way when closing and it also needs a stop piece so tools don't slide to far forward.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big bang for the buck About 3 weeks into it,really great buy. Been looking for a box and comparing it to other off brand boxes for around the same price. You really cant go wrong purchasing this box. The only complaint i have is with the key.it dosent smoothly go in. You really have to take your time with it trying to unlock it. But thats nothing compared to what you get. Ill be buying another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tool chest The tool chest was just right. Fits on top of the work bench. Has a deep top with hydrolics to reduce slamming. There is some noise when closing. The stoppers are not quite placed in a position to completely eliminate the noise. Easily fixed. There is enough space in the drawers to place bulkier tools.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well built but the gas shocks get in the way of tools when you close lid. The drawers open and close smoothly and lock tight. It is a very well-built quality toolbox. However, I do not like the Way the top lid with shocks is designed. You have to strategically place tools in the top in a manner that allows room for the gas shocks to rest when the lid is closed.
