Customer Questions & Answers

Can the lid be disabled?

I plan to put the chest under a 22" high shelf. I'm not concerned about security; the chest would be inside my home.
Asked by: Vermelle
Yes, if you mean the auto drawer lock when the lid is closed, it's easy to disable. Open the lid and tap out the two pins that connect the lid to the two locking straps using a long thin punch or any long thin piece of hard steel. Then simply pull the locking straps out (you might have to open the drawers a little bit as you pull the straps out.)

Is there a 26" rolling tool cabinet that matches up with the 26" tool chest?

Asked by: Ab
I think all of the 26" bottom cabinets will fit. I bought the 7 drawer H7TR3 because it had the same heavy duty drawer slides as the top box and heavy duty casters.

26 in. W 6-Drawer Chest is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not "Full Extension Drawers", but almost... For the most part this is a great 6-drawer tool box at a fair price. In other words.... other words "it's a good value. But for those who know what "Full Extension Drawers" means, this product falls short by about an inch. on all drawers. And that's where the fifth star is missing.

Had to return it and bought a different one that the Home Depot had in stock at the store where I arranged for delivery.

This might be a great tool chest if you could get one that is delivered without being damaged. I had the first one delivered to the home and then had to bring it to a local store to return. The next attempt was delivered to the store so I would not have to mess with all the packaging materials and when we opened it at the store, it was not functional because of crushing. I have a third one on order direct to the store and i am crossing my fingers. Last try as its not worth anot8her round.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor condition This chest looked great. After opening the box and taking a look the bottom had a nice dent in it which causes the bottom drawer to get caught. The chest is also no longer level. A nice scrape is also on the front of the bottom drawer. With most things I would just bring back to the store to exchange but this chest is just too big to try and ship it back. Very unsatisfied. It looks like a decent chest but I'd invest in something a bit better. Hopefully then it would survive the shipping.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Husky Tool chest I owned this box for a total of 2 days before I decided it was too poor quality for my needs. I am not a professional mechanic or a contractor but I wanted a nice sized sturdy box for my tools. I purchased this box strictly based on the value(price and size) it was dented out of the box so I exchanged it and the new one was also dented. Overall I would not recommend this product, shop around or save up for a better box

Backstory-I was in a local sears hometown store and really was drawn to a similar chest- I liked the shocks holding the lid, and the added front to back depth of the drawers, and the build quality. The sears sale price was good, but I was researching to do better, checking "points" and whatnot. somewhere I ran across a review that said that the Husky was designed and built by waterloo just like the sears so I looked into this online. I found this box linked to that same assertion. The one different feature being that this has the top drawer row as 2 drawers, and the craftsman was one fully across, which I like this Husky one better on that. The Home Depot Husky price was 35 dollars less than the Sears- delivered for free. I hopped on it! When it came- my only disappointment- it was the version made in China,(there are 3 versions I guess, according to another reviewer). I only had one light shipping scuff as opposed to some of the other reviewers, and it was minor. Otherwise- This is a sturdy, well built chest. I prefer the drawer pull style over my other chests- aesthetically and that they seem less "cheap". The drawers pull nicely -even loaded. Another thing that may seem minor to some but I like- the drawer sides are just a bit taller-this means just a little more "wall" to contain tools when piled in, and a little more strength to the drawer overall as this means more material welded at the corner joints. The great features are- as mentioned the drawers are deeper front to back- I bought it for this as my previous chest had tools piled (this also allows for those longer screwdrivers and prybars and such to fit in the normal drawers). The open( no built in dividers) deeper landscape in the top is amazing, and the fact that the locking mechanism at the key is designed to not allow stored items to easily interfere with it. Oh- and the keys themselves have this folding feature where the body of the key hinges out of the way-if you've ever broken or bent a key from running into it while it is in the lock you understand this feature. This is a high quality chest and- in this price range-about the best you can get under any name. It is worth way more than what I paid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can be great I purchased this top box last fall, and it's been great, I'd buy my version again in a heartbeat. And that's the thing to be aware appears there are 3 versions of this box. We've compared the differences on Garage Journal. MY box is the one made by Waterloo and I am very pleased. For those of you in the know, Waterloo makes most of the Craftsman boxes at double the price. There's an easy way to tell if you've got a Waterloo box and that's the 1-800 number listed on the sticker on the top right drawer. If it has that number and doesn't say call Home Depot on the sticker. If you really pay attention, you'll notice that some of the lids attach differently, and the draw pulls are slightly different too. One other note, make sure to pull all the drawers and rivet them into place. They are in SOME spots, but when you pull the drawers you'll see what I am talking about. A GREAT buy if you can get the right version. Oh, and the most important's 16" deep!
