Answer:
I'd call this a design flaw. Most ratchets have a button to release the detent. These don't. I have to pull really hard to get the extension component off the ratchet.

Answer:
I took a piece of rubberized material/cloth to get a good grip on the socket and used a ratchet plier to grip on the rubber material and grabbed the extension (or the wrench) and pulled it apart. It was literally impossible without the rubberized material and plier (or vise grip). It's new so maybe it'll get easier with use.

I'm with you, it's not as simple as "pull apart". There is a "click" when the socket is engaged with the extension and I can't seem to pull it apart to change to a different socket. I just started to try it this morning and when I figure it out I'll post it.

Answer:
Yup. It's almost like they don't want this design to succeed:
* No larger sockets
* No socket release/eject button (too difficult to release sockets)
* No square-drive adapter for using all of your other components (Torx bits, etc.)

Answer:
Sean, The issue with bigger pass-thru sockets is that once we go above a certain size, they no longer become pass-thru. When the fastener size increases so does the bolt it is attached to so we are limited in what we can manufacture in a 3/8" Drive pass-thru socket.

Answer:
Sounds like it's defective. There is a positive detent - although it's not like other ratchets with a push-button release (although it could be design to have one).

Answer:
ZooMass,
These sockets should lock into the ratchet. There is a black retaining ring in between the two pieces of the drive head. If this has come out or is missing you should see your local Home Depot about a replacement.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by For plumbing buy the additional extension. Holder needs a design change - If you need to tighten a modern kitchen faucet from under the sink this tool is almost perfect. Add a second extension and you will be able to slip the socket over the long screw that extends down from the faucet and tighten the nut. That second extension gives you the reach to turn the ratchet without hitting the tub of the sink. To use the display case as a socket holder the design needs to be improved. After the set has been used a while some sockets will probably fall out if you turn the holder over. A couple of rubber bands or those little bungy cords can work to pretty much keep the sockets in place. It seems like Husky could come up with an improved holder if they would only work on it. I got around the problem of where to put the extension by leaving it in the ratchet, then sliding both over the yellow bolt at the right of the tool. There is no place to store a second extension, so the one I bought has disappeared. I have discovered if you turn the holder over you should be able to jam an extension in the space next to the underside of the 1/4" adapter. August 7, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 3/8 IN. DRIVE UNIVERSAL PASS-THRU SET 3/8 IN. DRIVE UNIVERSAL PASS-THRU SET - this type of set is a little wonky - I should have bought the standard type - but it is serviceable and works - has a socket extension which helps - August 16, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great set of for installing or removing kitchen faucets. Exactly what was needed to help remove an old kitchen faucet easily. August 7, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by So close, but yet so far from perfect This is a great socket set . . . except it does not come with a square-drive adapter. Consequently all of the square-drive sockets that you have, such as torx bits, will still need a separate ratchet. This is a big hole for thinking that you can buy this to try to consolidate some of your tools. I have looked around and can't find a square-drive adapter that is available separately. The only one I have found is with another full set which doesn't include the extension (which means that one should be available somewhere). http://www.homedepot.com/p/Crescent-Pass-Thru-Ratchet-SAE-and-MM-Socket-Set-20-Piece-CX6PT20/204064337 Additionally the plastic case misses the boat. It has the appearance of being a reasonable place to store the set, but the components aren't retained well and the ratchet isn't retained at all. Since third-party storage racks are designed around square drive then don't expect to find a tradition socket storage solution. If a square drive was available and a good case then this would get 5/5. July 10, 2016
