air Compressor set up:
20 gal husky 175 psi "quiet" portable compressor with 3/8" 50 ft. hybrid husky air hose with 1/4" quick disconnect fittings and inline filter.
Husky cut off tool was purchased to cut off a 2.5" ID steel exhaust piping. I read the reviews and they said it uses air very quickly. Other reviews stated the tool cut through steel like butter. I felt with these reviews and my current air compressor setup, I should have no issue with cutting a 2.5" exhaust tube.
It took me roughly 30 minutes to cut through the exhaust tube.. air compressor had to refill twice. It may be my novice skills using a cut off tool as this is my first one but I did manage to get the hang of it towards the back half of the cutting.
Because of the protective shield, it was very cumbersome attempting to cut through the upper part of the pipe which is almost flush with the frame of the car. I had to unbolt the pipe at the catalytic converter and pull down to make enough space to fit the tool in there to cut. By the time I was finished cutting, a good 30% of the cutting wheel was gone.
If someone were to ask if Id recommend this tool to do exhaust work (on the vehicle), id probably recommend a sawzall for a cleaner and quicker cut.

Only used it a few times, but it cuts. It lacks power for the amount of air it uses. I have an 3hp 120gal Ingersoll and it would keep up but was on way too much for a little cut-off tool.

It's not the best tool out there, but it sure helped me with a last minute all night metal sheathing job. It's a little slow to work with, but was worth 5 times the price I paid for it

For the hobbyist or home mechanic, this sure beats a hacksaw or torch in many situations. It does not seem like a cheapie tool at all. Oil it prior to every use, and keep your compressed air dry with a separator. Totally satisfied, and would buy another.

nice tool.what you might offer is a eletric cuttoff tool. the advantage to this is obvious ...,no air compressor needed. like most air tool of this type 4cfm is needed. with eletric just a good power cord. still this one is still a good buy...
