Rated 4 out of 5Â by Modeltweaker Should be 5 stars
Bought this light a few days ago and it works great. It puts out a lot of light, but does not get hot. Great indoors when you don't want a halogen room heater. I had to rate it 4 stars because there were two screws missing from the package and I had to drive back to the store to get them. The guy in hardware figured out the size and gave me the screws. The store handled it well. Just in case you have the same problem the screws are 10-32x3/4 pan head. I highly recommend this light. In the attached photo I was working in a closet. Two 100 watt lights were on in the room, but it looks dark compared to where the light is shining.

I love this LED light! Since I'm the one who puts together all the furniture pieces, and other stuff, in our house, I need a good, strong light that will cover the entire living-room floor, (as that is where I take all the parts out of whatever package and assemble them-- using my canvas painter's tarp underneath everything, of course, *lol*).
On Dec 5-2013, (as late afternoon melted into evening), I was having great difficulty seeing all the parts, along with the assembly, of the piece I was putting together. So, my husband went to Home Depot and got a HALOGEN table-top lamp for me. And let me tell you... it was horrible... just utterly blinding! Plus, it got hot! As well, it became quite obvious that I needed a light that stood tall.
So, back to the store my husband went, wherein he exchanged, (much to my surprise), the halogen for this LED TRIPOD lamp, (we'd always used a halogen before, but, it broke after umpteen years and needed to be replaced anyway).
I was skeptical about this LED-business, but, put it together in two minutes and am happy to report that it's a PERFECT lamp! I was back at the job I had gotten it for, (putting together a television stand with electric fireplace... a HUGE undertaking!), and oh-so-happy with the very BRIGHT, but not blinding, light it provided.
Quite frankly, I don't know what all the complaints are about this LED TRIPOD LIGHT--->
>>> It's oh-so-BRIGHT, without being blinding like the halogen.
>>> The tripod is absolutely STURDY... but, obviously, if you're going to walk into it you're gonna knock it over... that's not the lamp's fault! I don't find it to be top-heavy at all... it's nicely balanced.
>>> It DOESN'T GET HOT at all... you don't have to be afraid to touch/adjust it, or move the lamp around, to fit your needs while you're working; unlike a halogen that is dangerously hot!
Yeah, it's expensive, (the only gripe I have about it), BUT IT IS worth every penny. It was made to last, (and WILL last), for years to come. So, a good VALUE in the long-run.
I'll NEVER, EVER use a halogen again.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Steve surprisingly bright
Reading that this work light had a 30W lamp in it gave me doubts about its brightness rating, but it really is amazingly bright. I used a handful of them to light up a scenic building facade for a night event and it was seriously bright. The lamps have a good spread and reach as well.
They are pretty top-heavy so if you're using them in a space where people will be walking around you should consider weighing the bases somehow. The actual materials used in making these are super cheap; the tripod is too light, the housing is flimsy, the power switch is unresponsive. But if you want them to shoot a lot of light out for not a lot of wattage, they do that.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by mark Great Bright Light - Tripod feels Cheap
I bought this yesterday so I had lighting to see what I was doing replacing a faucet and under sink spigots.
All the parts were present, the light was packaged well. The head unit comes out of the box without the leg stand. Two screws hold that in place.
Right away the tripod feels very flimsy and not of good quality. The material is very light weight. It feels like any accidental force applied in a workplace setting would cause this to fold and the plastic pieces to break. The power cord could be a few feet longer. Not a big deal - most of the time it's attached to an extension cord.
On a side note, the power consumption of the light is lower, which means you can add more lights to a run and longer extension cords of a smaller size to the unit without the risk of overloading a circuit.
The light head itself is nice. The light is bright and there is very little heat. The traditional 100W+ halogen bulbs blister flesh after a short time. This light filled the room with light. It ran for about two to three hours with little heat at all. The back heat shield only felt warm to the touch.
The relative heat of this light is a great safety feature when working in an area with pets and / or kids.
I looked at the smaller stand alone smaller light. It does not put out nearly as much light and did not have a tripod.
I would have been happier spending a little less with no tripod for this light. I may just use the heavier tripod from my old halogen light and call it good.
I would recommend this light for the brightness and lightweight of the light head unit itself. If you are going to rely on the tripod for use, use with caution and protection. I does not feel or look like it can handle being thrown in the back of a work truck and survive.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by ninjavideographer Great light, not good Quality Control
This light is great...Doesn't get hot at all yet plenty bright. The problem is the same as another reviewer stated: The screws were missing and I had to drive back to the store. Insult to injury when paying high dollar for a light that I have to waste gas and time to go back to the store for a couple screws. I watched the HD employee pull the light out of a 2-pack box from the factory, so it was not a returned item. Just poor QC. I'm using these lights for video lights and they have a great balance...
