Soccer field lighting?

After daylight savings, our soccer practices will end up in the dark. I can move practices earlier, but I stand a chance that not all the kids can make it there on time. For nnyone using this system...do you think one light on each sideline of a 70 yard field will be sufficient to practice in the dark? Thanks.

Answer:
No, I would not as these are rated for "indoor use only". As further argument along those lines, if you take one of these items apart, you will find a simple AC/DC power supply (like you would have on a printer or laptop) glued inside the metal housing.

I do not think this will give you enough light. It's probably equivalent to about a 300W bulb. I was just using mine today in a 12x14 room and it was adequate to use as a work light, but there is no way this would light 1/2 a soccer field.

They are excellent work lights in an average room but I doubt they would be bright enough for a soccer field. I would think you'd need several on each sideline to have enough light. Their big advantage is that they give off very little heat.

I don't have figures, but I don't think this light uses that much. I like it for its ease of use and multi angle. But I also bought 2 portable led work lights from Costco that are 2000 lumens each and one of them is twice as bright as this "2500 lumen" light. So if you can find a correlation between lumen and watts, I think 2500 is suspect. The table I found shows that 3000 lumens is about 200 watt Read More

This light is built well and works for me. It just doesn't put out much more light than maybe a 60 or 75 watt incandescent.

There would be pros and cons for that application:
1) it depends on how big your backyard is, if you're just talking about using one, and how bright you'd want your yard lit. For comparison: I have a 2-car garage with a 10 foot additional space for a work area, plus 2 feet extra all around. I have 2 of these lights. For comparison: I have a 2-car garage with a 10 foot additional space for a work area, plus 2 feet extra all around. I have 2 of these lights. I took the light-head off of the stand of one and mounted it near ceiling height over my workbench. The other I still use on portable stand.
At night, using only the one over the workbench, about half of the garage is lit where you can really see things. The other half, you can walk, see under your feet, could see things on your plate, but probably could not distinguish, say if a piece of trash, or leaf blew into your dinner. The periphery is like dim candlelight. With BOTH lights on - you can see adequately all over the garage, much like many restaurants, but probably not much further.
2) with one only - you'll have to deal with total shadow area blackouts.
3) The light stand extends only about face height, so it might glare in people's eyes. If you had a way to elevate it, that would be better.
4) It's pretty flimsy; you'd want to locate it where it would not get knocked over.
5) they make great work lights when you're done with that purpose; just handle them gently.
One will BRIGHTLY light a typical bathroom
Adequately light a living area.
Dimly light a large living area/ x2 car garage.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Second work light I have bought in 10 years It is the best work light I have ever used. Light weight and easy to adjust and set up or take down October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase lights up areas like it's daylight I purchased this product for additional light for my porch. I use it all the time to grill after dark, it gives exceptional lighting. I highly recommend it. October 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Side pivot lights are not durable I bought this light because I was tired of getting cooked by the traditional halogen units. It accomplishes that goal very well. However, the first time it got bumped and fell over, one of the side panel lights broke right off. The metal mounting frame which connects to the hinge is of very poor quality (cheap "pot metal" and is generally very thin (<1mm) except for two points which are marginally thicker. With metal of such inferior grade and thickness, there is no way this light is suitable for a job site. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does the Job We are installing new woodwork in our house and I needed more light for staining and finishing. This light works nicely as it is adjustable in height and does not put out a lot of heat. As with all equipment, you need to be careful when moving it around and I wish the small side lights were adjustable independently up and down as well as side to side but it will get the job done as is. July 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Happy Great light. Does the job. I will let everyone know. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome L.E.D light and very bright! I was amazed on how bright these L.E.D lights are. They did the job and light up my whole backyard as well my neighbor ! Worth the money ! May 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by unreliable I've had two of these now after returning another Husky light that burned out bulb in minutes, and ended up trading in the last for a Milwaukee light. Whoever is making these is cutting massive corners, as I've found and it looks like many of the other reviewers. The design is nice and the light's external parts seem well built, but I didn't get more than about 35 hours of out of either one. Also, each one did have some minor part missing, which really speaks to manufacturing conditions. I have some Husky products that are outstanding, many of the tool bags are truly pro level quality, but they need to find another maker for their lights, these are garbage. December 29, 2015
