Actually run this on my 20 gal compressor. Very very low vibration. Does not get cold like metal-bodied air tools. Highly recommend.

I have been using the free 3M sanders I got from work (body shop) and all 3 had bearing problems in the 5 years I've been there. I've been thinking of buying one the top truck name brands that I have used in the past which work awesome. today my 3rd 3M started acting up so I went and bought this husky to try it out. I use my DA everyday so I need something reliable. Overall this sander seems to work pretty good. It was $80 vs. $170-$300 for what I was ready to buy. I can't speak on longevity but my initial opinion is that it will do the job as good as my 3M or better. The exhaust is a bit on the loud side. I am going to see if the snap on exhaust fitting will fit, which is much quieter on the snap on DA. I use hookit sand paper, not sticky so I had to swap the hookit disc from my 3M DA to use this husky at my job. For $80 I can't complain but it's not my first choice. I would recommend for someone on a lower budget or a back up for everyday use unless it proves me wrong and lasts. Also, I did put a few drops of oil in. we will see what happens over time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by NVRider46 This is a really nice sander, but...
This is a really nice sander. If I was rating it in a vacuum, it would be a 5. However, I have the same issues several other reviewers have mentioned. Is it or is it not oil free? Web description says oil free; manual definitely stresses keeping it oiled and recommends an in-line oiler. Would be nice to not introduce oil to my air system because I occasionally do use it for painting, but unless and until someone can confirm it’s an oil-free sander, I’m putting a couple drops of oil in before each use.
And then the air requirement. This Husky tools says it needs 4 cfm at 90#. My 30 gallon Husky compressor says it puts out 5.1 cfm at 90#. My compressor kicks on within 30-seconds of starting to sand and my pressure falls below 90# within about 6 minutes. Then I wait. In fairness to Home Depot, there is a compressor comparison chart of the website that compares Husky compressors by task. Empty circle means no, full circle means yes, half-filled circle mean marginal. It does show marginal for my compressor. Problem is, I didn’t see that chart before I bought and can’t find it again now. I did find it when I was initially trying to understand my problem.
I would recommend this sander if I KNEW the person had a compressor with enough capacity.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by PinkTacoBandit At least it's not made in China
Picked it up to for finish sanding on hard wood flooring. It advertises to operate 4 CFM @ 90psi. // I have a Dewalt 15gal compressor rated for 5 CFM @ 90 psi (actual) and the sander sucked up all the air. The compressor was running nonstop and operating pressure had dropped to 60psi. // it still worked, but was weak and didn't do that well after the pressure drop.. So, I don't know if it's the tool sucking up more than 4 CFM or my compressor not putting out what it should. Either way the tool is made in Taiwan and not China, but you might need a big compressor or high CFM rating for it to work properly..

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by tomsinamerica performs as it should
It's a good sander, I can't talk about how long it will last, I've just used it for a couple of days so far but it comes with a 2 year limited warranty. Orbit is 3/16 so it performs nicely as an all around sander. I was using it today with some 3M 80 grit PSA paper to shape body filler. It performed really well, not too aggressive, not too mild - made for quick work.
The other thing is that it's not as air hungry as i was expecting. I have a 3HP 60 gallon compressor which is rated at 11CFM @90. I was expecting to have to wait every now and then for the compressor to catch up but to my surprise, it was a good match. I wouldn't want to use it with anything smaller unless it has 100% duty cycle.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by travis Great air sander
I bought this sander to do body work on my older project car. I have never gotten around to using it on that, but works great for sanding down wood and I have the 80 gallon husky compressor and it can run for quite some time with out turning on. Now even though it is rated at 4 cfm at 90 psi like all air tools it's rating does not account for non stop use overall the sander does a fine job and have not had any problems with it.

Very comfortable and steady grip. I am absolutely happy with this sander. I had the an older model which the handle was longer and needed to use both hands. Satisfied customer.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Restorecars Needs more air than specified.
As another reviewer said his 60-gallon compressor rated at 11CFM@90 psi was able to keep up. The problem is this tool claims in it's specifications to only require 4 CFM@90 psi. That's a monster difference, and indeed, my 5HP 30-gallon compressor is rated at 8.8CFM@90 psi and was constantly running to drive this tool. Home Depot isn't doing anyone any favors by underestimating the CFM requirements of the tools they sell.
