Product Overview

The new Husky air tool line is built to industrial standards for the professional user providing more power, less noise and longer life. This new Palm Sander features low weight housing with rubberized overmold for comfort. The isolated oil free motor design reduces vibration by up to 50% over conventional palm sanders, and allows use of the tool without lubrication. The internal silencing greatly reduces tool noise and the built-in regulator allows you to match the speed of the tool to the job. Designed for surface preparation and final finish sanding of metals, plastics, composites, fillers and glass fiber used on autos and recreational vehicles. The orbital action provides the smoothest swirl free finish possible; this design tool is favored for auto repair shops and high volume furniture/wood product manufacturers where the finest surface finishes are required.

I just bought one of these sanders. It works great but I dont like the stick on sanding disks. Is there a base for hook and loop sand paper?

Asked by: Jack
The 6" sanding pads that orbital sanders run are all standard, if you go to a automotive paint store you should be able to get a 6" hook and loop pad for it and simply unbolt the old one and attach the new hook and loop pad. I don't know about this sander but most come with a special flat wrench that you use to take the sanding pad off, if this sander didn't come with one you'll have to make one or find a place you can buy one. Word to the wise the hook and loop sandpaper usually costs more than the plain sticky back paper.

What is the orbital pattern 3/16?

Asked by: Jack
3/16" orbit is fine detail sanding. Medium detail (less fine/ more rough) sanders are 5/16" orbit.

6 in. Low Vibration Palm Sander is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value I bought this after losing my air tools in a flood. I was going to use it as a temporary tool or back up, but it's my primary sander now. I've used it 5 days a week and on various jobs(professional full time auto body tech). It's pretty good. I probably won't upgrade any time soon. Very happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy on your hands and arms, low vibration I got this to replace an older electric disc sander that I have used for refinishing furniture. What I like so far with this Husky 6 IN. LOW VIBRATION PALM SANDER is that it is not heavy, and especially like that the vibration is seriously less than my old sander. I guess it's all what you get use to. This Husky sander is much quieter too. I will be refinishing a table that belonged to my grandmother so this will make the task much easier. Comes with a 2 year warranty. States that vibration is up to 50% less than conventional palm sanders. Rotates at 11,000 RPM. Weighs only 1.81 pounds and has adjustable speed with built in air regulator. Requires an air compressor output of 4 cfm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth as butter I've used a number of air palm sanders before and this one is surprisingly smooth to use. It's not crazy powerful, which is actually a great thing. This is more of a finish and smoothing sander, not a stripping sander. But it will cut through body work and filler like crazy and do it smooth as glass. It's also lightweight and really easy on the hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who would have thought! I really like this sander. First of all, as advertised, the vibration is much less than any electric sander I have and less noisy. The finish is stellar given that the rotation is much more controlled by the user. Love being able to use the lever to adjust the speed of the spin. I was working outside so I did not use the ability to attach a dust collector. These are not cons per se, only my preferences. I don't like pressure sensitive sanding discs. I'd rather use the velcro backed ones so I had to buy discs just for this item. Also, since it runs on air, you need to make sure you have a compressor with you, and thus, if working high up, a lot of hose. In a shop environment though, this is a great tool to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price. I have been using the free 3M sanders I got from work (body shop) and all 3 had bearing problems in the 5 years I've been there. I've been thinking of buying one the top truck name brands that I have used in the past which work awesome. today my 3rd 3M started acting up so I went and bought this husky to try it out. I use my DA everyday so I need something reliable. Overall this sander seems to work pretty good. It was $80 vs. $170-$300 for what I was ready to buy. I can't speak on longevity but my initial opinion is that it will do the job as good as my 3M or better. The exhaust is a bit on the loud side. I am going to see if the snap on exhaust fitting will fit, which is much quieter on the snap on DA. I use hookit sand paper, not sticky so I had to swap the hookit disc from my 3M DA to use this husky at my job. For $80 I can't complain but it's not my first choice. I would recommend for someone on a lower budget or a back up for everyday use unless it proves me wrong and lasts. Also, I did put a few drops of oil in. we will see what happens over time.
