Answer:
I am not sure on whether they "recommend" it or not. However, I had to transport it on it's side. I just let it sit upright for a hour or so before using it. I have had no issues since I installed it over 1 month ago. I have used it a lot in this month.
Mine came with the oil already in it. I think because it was a floor model. Be aware it is pretty top heavy.

I put mine in the back of an SUV. just be sure to have the control switch facing up and lay it on a tarp to be sure if any oil leaks out you don't stain the carpet

Answer:
If you cannot help it they you will have to transport it leaning down. Some stores have rental trucks for around 20.00 an hour, maybe that can be a choice? the main issue with leaning it down is the oil draining back out the seals. If it goes to the top of the pistons, I can almost guarantee you will have that cloud of burning oil unit the oil is burned off and exhausted.

Answer:
If you mean, will it operate on 120v or 240v, the answer is no. It operates on 240 volts. I actually had to add a sub panel and then a 240v outlet. I then wired a plug with wire to the compressor. It can be wired directly to your panel if you have no need to ever move it.

Per the specs, I did not see (at least in the booklet I have) about this being a dual voltage.
