Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Compressor I bought this compressor for use at my barn. As other reviews have indicated, it's a good idea to check the oil level for the pump prior to the breakin run, mine was over filled also. One other review suggested changing out the drain plug for the tank. This IS a great idea & makes draining the tank after use a cat's meow! I bought all the 1/4" brass fittings to do this at Home Depot. I used one 1/4" elbow male to female to replace the plug, two 1/4" brass pipes 4" long ea. with a coupling & added a 1/4" ball valve on the end with another elbow to direct the discharging air toward the floor. It works absolutely great and very much easier than trying to twist the small drain knob with your fingers up under the compressor... July 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It's a great compressor I had none of the leak problems , the size of the tank makes it run a lot less, I have a dedicated line for it so no problems starting, I did find that it was over filled with oil like the other reviews ,it was loud ,I purchased a silencer/filter by Solberg from Graingers # 4z679, to make it fit, I used the existing filter as a template, I cut a piece of diamond plate aluminum ( also from home depot ) ,drilled a hole the size for the new filter , installed it , it is at least half as loud if not more . Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great compressor for the price Had been looking a good upgrade from my current compressor (2HP, 15 Gallon, Oil-less) that I have had for about 14 years. It was still working strong but only produces about 5.7 cfm @ 90psi and I am starting to use some more air equipment and wanted something a little better. I had been looking at a 60 Gallon 5HP unit at HF that was about $300 more than this unit. I didn't quite need that much CFM and wasn't sure I wanted to run a 5HP motor. So, this Husky unit fit my budget and usage better. This unit seem to be put together pretty well. @ just over 200 pounds it wasn't hard for me and a buddy to haul home in my pickup. Installation took me and a buddy several hours and went pretty much as expected. I took my time and planned it out. Know that this is not just a small unit you sit anywhere and plug into a 115V outlet. I have seen some reviewers complaining about the wiring being complicated. Quite frankly, I didn't see it as hard at all. If you're having trouble wiring up a simple 230V single phase device, it is not something you should be tackling yourself, have a professional do it right if you're not sure. Some other reviewers also have commented on the instructions not being good or not provided. My unit was on display at the store and had a packet attached to the tank with the instructions and 4 rubber/metal washers enclosed. I found them to be fine. I decided to let the unit run for the break-in period of 20 minutes while we were still running some of the air lines. Even though the instructions didn't mention changing the oil after the break-in, for $8 I did it anyway and was glad, because there was some very small metal flakes in the oil as expected. I actually flushed the oil a second until I got totally clear oil. The unit takes 16oz of oil. One of the things I listed as a con, was the fact there are some things you will need that are not included like a regulator. This was not that big of a deal, and for some, it may be better because you can get exactly what you want. I was able to get most everything right there at Home Depot. I think all the extras may have cost me another $35-$50. I'm still getting all my air lines setup, so I can't leave a complete review. But, so far I'm pretty impressed with the unit and will have some more to add after a few months of use. September 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works good - no leaks The compressor worked correctly with no leaks. I performed the 20 minute break in per the instructions and then closed the valve and let it fill. It goes from 0 psi to 155 psi in just under 8 minutes and the tank is barely warm (the temperature outside is 65 deg. I have not run the compressor in the summer heat yet.) I did however find one very important problem before running the compressor. The power wires from the motor to the pressure switch have a very bad connection. Husky used quick connectors at the pressure switch side and they were so loose they fell off when bumped. If they were to be left loose the motor would not be able to pull enough current which would cause the motor to get very hot and the tank would take longer to fill. Also the outlet port is only 3/8 inch, it would be nicer if it was bigger since most shops run ½ inch lines. I gave it four stars due to the loose connectors. November 10, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It's quiet and has plenty of power I have had this compressor for a few months now and haven't had any problems so far. I changed the oil after 40 minutes of use. It's quiet and fills up quick. April 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great quality compressor I read all the reviews before buying this compressor about the leaks etc. I bolted to floor and broke it in as suggested and witness none of the problems as reviews stated. Winter has prevented using it much but it has set for 10 days now under 150# psi with no leak down. This my 2nd Husky 60 gal. with no problems with either. Sound is probably near the bottom decibels scale for 60 gal. Great value. December 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Runs very smoothly .... no problems I set this up yesterday on a pressure treated skid I made in lieu of bolting to my concrete floor. 4-30" 2x4's spread out and 2-32" 2x6's crisscrossed on top { made sure the feet sat overtop of where the 2x6's crossed over the 2x4's and lagged thru both }and then strips of 1/2" stall mats screwed underneath the 2x4 skids to keep from moving due to any vibration. Did also swap out the bottom drain to a horizontal 1/4" pipe with fittings for ease of reaching the valve. Couldn't be happier so far, as it is very quiet and did not vibrate whatsoever. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good compressor I just bought this compressor last Saturday (1/25/2014) based on these reviews and also comparing compressors in my area (Odessa, Tx). For my 20 x 30 personal workshop this is a perfect fit, sits just right in the corner of my shop. When I connected it and turned it on, I honestly thought it was going to be very loud. I was suprised on how low the nice volume is compared to the one I replaced (Craftsman 33 gallon). I got the 60 gallon capacity, quieter motor and I only payed with tax approx. $530.00 plus $40.00 for connections and small accessories. That is only about 130-140 dollars more that what I paid for the 33 gallon craftsman. So far the unit works fine and started right up. I did a test fill and drain of the air tank. I have not changed the oil at this time because they were out where I went to go shopping, so this will be the next to do as soon as I get my hands on some air compressor oil. I also already did the retro-fit on the bottom drain plug, Not only did I extend it out and add a ball valve lever to release the air like most people have done, I took it a step further and connected a hose at the end to be able to run outside my shop door (only 2 feet away) to blow out the water and gunk that will eventually accumulate. In my region and for workshop use, this is currently the most Bang for the Buck compressor you can get in the 60 gallon range. The closes one that matched it was the Harbor freight one with 175 psi, 5 hp 60 gallon for $800.00 same 2 year warranty. Ingersoll-rand and Dewalt fell short in my opinion with their warranty, PSI rating and horsepower rating. The craftsman 60 gallon one with the bad reviews made me not choose that one. The only thing I will try now on this compressor is a silencer to quiet it down a bit, so that might be an experimental thing, we will see. January 30, 2014
