I purchased this compressor as an upgrade/replacement for an old 6 HP Craftsman I'd purchased back in 1990. When it runs, it produces plenty of pressure and volume but it is highly unpredictable and therefore unreliable. I purchased mine in November of 2016 and it failed for the fourth time yesterday. This failure occurs despite performance of regular maintenance and cylinder head re-torques as specified in the owners manual. The problem as I see it, stems from the use of aluminum valve plates with very poor quality head gaskets that fail between the intake and exhaust ports of the head (see photo). When this happens, the broken piece of gasket damages the reed valve and the compressor fails. If the manufacturer upgraded and used a metal or fiber reinforced gasket, it would likely eliminate the problem and make this a good durable machine. I've read countless reviews on this compressor and it makes me question whether anyone at Husky or HD actually cares about the failures or quality as long as they can sell them. Other not so brilliant things about this unit? Well, the manual also says that you should take your compressor (300+ Lbs) to a service center annually to have a technician check the pump intake and exhaust valves. As a matter of practicality - this is simply stupid! These are called stationary because they are intended to be installed and used. They are not intended to be portable for an annual trip to the repair shop. My compressor is used in my home workshop and most likely has less than 100 hours total run time on it. Bottom-Line: There is no acceptable reason for failures from such an obvious cause not to be corrected by the manufacturer. Home Depot's reputation will suffer in the long run as customer trust in their products falls. Unless some changes are made, these compressors will only be valued for their weight as scrap.

This compressor came highly recommended by a California sand blaster. As I am a glass artist, I use this to power my sandblasted for carving glass. It is expected to be a studio workhorse. If possible set it outside of your immediate work area for the noise factor ... It was just installed by a profession plumber - recommended. I took the opportunity to add a few taps for other air tools.

Tried three of these units in a 90 day period and they are junk!
The first one lasted almost a month, the second one 3 weeks, and the third one lasted a week!
Seems they have some kind of a valve problem and the center cylinder pushes all the air back out the air cleaner.
Fortunately I am still in the 90 day store warranty and they will take it back and issue a refund.
Heading back there tomorrow.

if you care about a good warranty stay away. barely a year old an 1 of the cylinders is leaking oil and causing pressure to drop. warranty is not covered if used in a shop which I was not aware of. i shop home depot a lot and will start steering clear of husky products and home depot.
we are there literally every day and will start shopping grainger and lowes when possible.
