Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great option for the weekend mechanic 5 out of 5 . Recommended Product . I’ve always wanted a tool chest, but was never able to spend the bucks for an expensive set. I happened to see this one at my local HD, and they had a pricing special, buy the base and the chest, get the middle chest free. Reading the other reviews, I saw that these seem to damage easily in transit, so I made sure the boxes I picked weren’t damaged. (Some of the ones at the store were). I wouldn’t call this item heavy duty, and I wouldn’t expect it to hold up to long term daily shop use by a professional. The gauge of steel isn’t tremendously thick, and it’s just not in the same league as the pro sets that cost 2-3 times as much. However, for a DIY’er like me who is going to work in the garage a few times a month, this is perfect. It is economical, good looking, functional. The ball bearing drawers work great. Let’s face it, if those aren’t good, that kinda ruins everything. It’s easy to move around, although mine will stay put most of the time. As long as you’re not dropping heavy things in the drawers and slamming it around, I see no reason why it won’t last for decades. I’m glad I found it for the price I did, it’s a great option. What surprised me the most was once I got it together and started putting my tools in it, I still had several empty drawers. Time to get more tools! December 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product I am very pleased with this tool box everything seems to work as it should. Just a word of advice, you have to open the lid in order to pull out the drawers, kind of annoying but atleast you dont have to worry about the drawers sliding out when you move it. April 14, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible design? Horrible quality control? I was completely disappointed in this item. Even from the start it looked like the drawers did not align well. When closing the lid to 'lock' the drawers, two would still open. Once you put tools in the drawers and added weight, more problems showed up. Some of the drawers would no longer latch when closed, and therefore if there was a slight lean forward would roll open, The top lid will not close completely, probably because of problems in the latching mechanism. Where the problem is, I'm not quite certain. It may be misalignment in the construction, thus a quality control problem. But it also might be in the design. While being steel, they steel is very thin and the drawers felt weak and easily able to bend out of shape. October 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Product is better than expected. Drawers slide in & out smoothly, metal could be of heavier gage though. For the price it is worth it. Home Depot in- store pick up was painless. August 14, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent tool box for the price purchased this tool box combo on black Friday with the bottom 5 drawer roller and came with a free 2 drawer middle section. The sheet metal is pretty thin, it wouldn't work for shop use but it wasn't designed for that either. Works perfect for a home garage like I have it. The drawers slide well but do have some side to side play and they don't always lock into place perfect. I will say husky cheaped out on adding more rivets to the sliders for the drawers. I figured out how to cure some of the side to side play with the drawers, I drilled some holes on the slides that mount inside the tool box right in the middle of them they are already notched for a rivet like I added because there riveted where the front of the drawer closes. It helped a lot to make the drawers slide better and now there's hardly any side play or wobble to them. After a hour of modification with a drill and 50 rivets I am extremely happy with the outcome and the Husky tool box. December 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by more bang for your buck Well built for years of use, great price usa made, now i'm going to buy the stack-on cabinet that go's with it, plenty of space so i don't have to shuffle thing's around anymore. September 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product Drawers pull out a little hard and the locking mechanism is different. Quality product overall, heavy duty. May 28, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very flimsy constuction I knew this was not going to be a heavy duty tool box. I bought it anyway because I need a place to keep all my tools. I am not a professional mechanic, only use my tools a few hours a week so this will probably be OK for me. If you intend to make a living with your tools, I'd look for a tougher box to put them in.
