Nearly any wrench, socket, hex head and specialty screw head for all homeowner tasks can be found in this quality tool kit from Husky.
Taking the training wheels off Junior's bike? Assembling the new ceiling fan? Changing oil on the family truckster? Putting together the TV stand and don't want to use those absurdly skinny wrenches they include? Building a new swing set? This tool kit can solve all the needs of your household handyperson and most tasks of the advanced DIYer as well.
The huge assortment of tools comes in a large plastic tool box, organized by size of the attachment or the tools purpose. The box has three levels and one slide out drawer and every piece snaps into it's marked place in the box.
Total weight of the set is near 40 pounds. A testament to the amount of steel used in the tools. No skinny weaklings that will strip the second you use them in this set. The wrenches all have a nice heft and the ratchet mechanism is tight and precise. No slop when working with anything, even the small 1/4" wrench felt strong in the hand. The chrome coating on each tool is nice and thick and the nicely chamfered sockets hold on tight to any nut or bolt.
All sockets are deeply engraved with the size and the Husky name. It's easy to grab the size you need for the job. No more squinting to see what size socket you have.
If all those Metric and SAE sockets in 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" sizes aren't enough, you also have a large selection of screw driver bits, specialty bits, extensions, along with four sets of hex wrenches, large and small in Metric and SAE too.
There are a couple things I'd like to see changed on this set and then it would be five stars without question.
One, is a nice set of included pliers. Needle nose, channel lock, linesman, etc. Everyone needs good pliers with their tools.
Two, the tool box itself is kind of hokey. The top level is fine, it opens like a tool box should. The bottom of the tool box is assembled from numerous pieces of plastic that snap together and had already come loose and scattered sockets all over when it was shipped. You have to completely unsnap and remove the top of the tool box to access the third row of tools. This needs to be improved. I'd like a large plastic box with one upper level and three sliding drawers or one that opens like a chest and has three trays that pull out. This one gets the job done, but I keep thinking that bottom section is going to pop apart and spill sockets all over the place.
Even with the iffy tool box, this set is very high quality and should serve any building or maintenance needs you have for decades. With the lifetime warranty, you're set to do just that. Just don't lend them out to the neighbor, once they get to using them you may never get them back!

This is a very complete tool set. It can work for home DIYer to a professional mechanic it has a large assortment of sockets and they are easy to read. The tool box that it comes in is a nice touch. I do find that the lower tray does not "hold" the sockets to well when in transit, I used a piece of cardboard and the foam that it comes with to resolve this. The ratchets are very good and has a solid feel to them. Overall this is an excellent kit for the person who wants/needs a full set of sockets.

This set has everything you need. The ratchets feel smooth in your hand and the large lever is easy to switch from tighten to loosen. The sockets have a very large easy to see label engraved which makes finding the right one effortless. The chrome finish is durable and looks great. The lifetime warranty makes owning this a no brainer. Buy this set for the tools and not the case. The case is nice, but it's just multiple pieces of injection molded plastic that snap together and it falls apart very easily.

I decided to upgrade my tools with the Husky 268-Piece Mechanics Tool Set. It comes with a handy plastic tool case that has a place for each piece in the set, and includes a nice assortment of wrenches, ratchets, sockets, nut drivers and hex wrenches. Since receiving the tools, I’ve had the chance to try them out on several auto projects, including replacing a starter and distributor. There are a lot of things I about with this set, along with a few disappointments, which are described below:
The Good: Extensive assortment of wrenches and sockets. The sockets are mostly 6-points and have easy-to-read etching. The ratchets are also very beefy and have 72 clicks per revolution, which is great for tight spaces. The plastic box is cleverly designed and has a place for every piece in the set.
The Bad: The plastic box has no room for storing other tools such as screwdriver, pliers, tape, etc., which are necessary for a functional, mobile tool box. Although the assortment of sockets are mostly 6-points, all of the ½” sockets are 12-points, which are less desirable for high torque situations. There is also some duplication with the hex wrenches, which increases to the tool count but adds little value.
Overall, I really like the Husky 268-Piece Mechanics Tool Set and recommend it for anyone looking to upgrade their tools. Best suited for garage use because the box has no room for carrying additional tools.

I like the fact that there are 6 point and 12 point sockets in both the 1/4 and 3/8 drive. I feel they should have added 6 point sockets for the 1/2 drive. My set came with two (2) 10mm deep wall 1/4 drive sockets, was missing the 9mm. Adding a pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of standard or slip-joint pliers would really help. (There is plenty of room in the lower case where I keep those extra tools.) The box itself needs attention. The latches break easily. My two lower latches broke the week I bought it, I have replaced them with metal latches I removed from another case I had. Now one of the upper latches has broken and the other is sure to break soon. PLEASE USE BETTER LATCHES ON YOUR CASES!!!. This is a heavy tools set, case latches need to support that weight.

This is a very nice set for the home mechanic. I will say that HD should really describe the toolbox this comes with better. I think this additional information would be very useful to the end user.
The design features of the toolbox is ingenious. The removable top and removable tray make getting to the right tool a cinch. Everything is clearly identified for each item.
I recommend you take a minute to watch the video on the function-ability of this box.
Husky tools are great tools in my option. I have a larger toolbox with many different sets. The tool quality and warranty can't be beat. And, they are priced cheaper than the name brand competition's tools. In all of the years I have owned Husky tools, I have never broke a tool, or have experienced any failures whatsoever.
With Christmas coming up...this would make an awesome gift.
Only one bad thing to say: you really only need one set of each type (SAE & Metric) hex keys. This comes with short and long hex keys.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tony Great set and value
For many years as a professional and DIYer I have always stuck with Snap-On, Mac & Craftsman Tools both for the Quality and Warranty. When I started my mobile auto service my wife give me the set as a gift, I thought for sure that it would not last 6 months. Well I was very wrong it's been 3 years and the set is still looking great and preforming as if it was new. And while the case is not the best I have seen I was surprised that when two clips holding the top and bottom together broke was replaced at no-charge.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Greg What a diverse set!
What a great set! There isn't much that is missing from this tool set. What I really liked was the diversity in sockets. This set offers metric and imperial versions of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 in a wide variety of deep well, short, and 8 point vs. 12 point. The socket wrenches are also 100% steel, no plastic parts to break on you. The thumb switches are a bit stiff at first, but do appear to be loosening up. The extensions are not wobblers, so that's one drawback. The case this all comes in is nice too, although the bottom drawer is difficult to get out unless you take the top off first. Overall, I'm very pleased with the set and I'd recommend this to anyone that needs a complete mechanics tool set and only wants to buy one once. In fact, this is a great gift for a new home owner as their first tool set.
