Customer Questions & Answers

Husky allen wrenches (hex keys) Where are these made? US or China? (or someplace else)

Asked by: Paul
Probably somewhere else, because a lot of those tools are just not made in the USA anymore. A quick check is to look at the steel and the shape of the head. If the angles are precise and sharp/pointed, not rounded in the slightest, then it might have been made/ milled in the USA. Also, if the steel is a gray-black rather than all black or all grey, then it could very well be USA. If they are chrome-plated, then most likely China or some other Asian country. Chrome itself is hard; plating is usually a cover-up. The steel will ALMOST ALWAYS tell. I grew up around steel and in a rust-belt steel mill town.

A simple question with several different answers. Does anybody know if these Husky wrenches are made in the United States or by a Communist regieme?

As we all know Husky tools are fantastic. I just want to know where they are constructed. Support the USA, even if you are paying more for your tools. Make this country strong again.

How does the policy in regards to the guaranteed forever work on these items? Can they be replaced one at a time or should I just take the whole set in to be replaced to my local Home Depot?
Asked by: mike
Mike, Home Depot does not stock individual hex keys to replace one at a time, so they will need to open a set in store to replace the damaged key. Since the 26 piece set contains the two 13 pieces sets The store will often open or exchange one of the 13 piece sets to make your set whole again. you can take the entire damaged set, SAE or Metric and have them replaced.

SAE/Metric Long Arm Hex Key Set (26-Piece) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from both SAE and Metric! Talk about being prepared for any situation that comes about when working with different products. You never know where products come from these days so having the ability to have SAE and Metric all in one 26 piece hex key set, you are prepped for any situation that arises. It was a bit tough at first to pull the hexs out of their holders, but after a couple times it starts to loosen a bit and makes it easier, yet they are still snug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Hex Key Set I've always had a bunch of hex keys laying around in toolboxes and bags but I've never had a complete set. This is the perfect set for me, I don't use them a lot, but when I do, it's really nice to have them all in one place, I no longer have to dig around to find the right size, I just take it out, use it, and put it back into the case. These keys are very nice quality and seem like they will hold up for a long time to come, perfect for any homeowner. I also really like the long handles, it make them much easier to use and to reach places that are hard to get to with the shorter wrenches.

Got this set a few months ago. 1) Fit needs to be snug and it was very 2) Hardness of metal of hex key must be high or corners of the key bearing surfaces round off and no tightening or loosening takes place. (not to mention possibility of rounding off the inside of the hex head screw!) This is especially critical on the smallest sizes that I use on my RC Model plane engines, as well as the larger keys on my SUV. These Husky Hex keys worked great and the bonus is that it is combo SAE and Metric! Highly recommended and great price; beats buying one individual set of each!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Product for the Price I appreciate the organization the plastic case for this product provides as it facilitates picking the wrench of the size needed. Each of the wrenches is stamped with the key size so that size determination is easy even after removal of several or all wrenches from the case. From my use of this product occasionally during about a month for various projects, most involving loosening and tightening set screws, I found the metallurgy to be right. I experienced no issues with bending or breaking. This is a good product when one considers the low price and lifetime warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a lot of hex keys After I found myself lacking the right size hex key for the third time, I figured I'd just buy a ton of them so that would never happen again. This product provides a lot of hex keys in a nice case. The case latch had an extra bit of plastic that kept it from closing, but a knife took that off easily. The key of the size I supposedly wanted did not fit the thing I was trying to loosen, so either the manual was wrong or the keys aren't the right size; I didn't check. Either way, the next size smaller worked fine. If you need a lot of hex keys, you could do worse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy set This is a good and complete allen wrench set. The carrying case is probably the best part for me. It is clearly marked with the sizes on each side (see pictures) for quick removal. The case snaps shut for storage and can easily be carried in your pocket. You can access all of the smaller size wrenches with it being snapped shut, so you really only need to open it for the larger sizes. The case hinge is the only part I would worry about over time, but since you can leave it snapped shut, it should not be an issue. The wrenches themselves are chamfered for quicker and easier insertion. I expect this set to last for years to come, but if any damage should happen, remember that they are the Husky brand and are guaranteed forever!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every Hex Key I Need in one Place! I have a thousand hex wrenches, okay maybe not a thousand but a lot of them, that are laying loose. The problem is I have no idea what size they are and I have to go through a trial and error process to find one that fits the application I need. This is a handy set of hex keys, all in one place and all labeled by size. With this set it's very easy to find the right wrench regardless if the situation call for a metric or an SAE size. It's easy to store and folds up nicely and tucks away in my tool box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far after daily use there is no deformation wear... So far after daily use there is no deformation wear or rounding on the keys. I cant say the same for the same priced sets from other manufactures. Whats shown is the "Original Allen Key Brand" set and after paying $13 and 3 months later i'm grinding down the wear marks and throwing twisted keys across the shop i gave Husky brand a chance because of the price point. a month later i'm not regretting giving them a chance. Its not a Bohndus or Whia but your not paying that price either.
