Read directions prior to using! Certain paints need to be thinned. Most of the negative reviews on this page are due to User Error. The gun works as expected straight out of the box. Follow the instructions for spray patterns, pressure and paint usage and you should be fine.
I have purchased 3 of these guns for refinishing jobs. As long as this gun is not abused and is cleaned properly it works amazingly. The only issues I have had were due to my workers dropping the cup and denting the top, trying to over tightening the lever to secure the cup, and not cleaning the gun properly.
Make sure you have a big enough compressor for the job you are doing or the paint or stain you are using will start to spatter due to low pressure.

This is the first time I used a spray painter to do a project. First of all for the price I was very happy with the purchase. Having used a Wagner Power painter before, I can say this sprayer is a big improvement. To be fair though, this sprayer and air compressor have considerable more horse power than a stand alone Wagner Power painter. After reading the directions, adjusting the air flow, paint thickness, and spray pattern I practiced on a piece of cardboard. Once everything was dialed in I painted the railing on my deck. The sprayer did an excellent job especially on the railing's nooks and creavices. Much faster than a paint brush would have been. The finish was great too...no runs, drips, or errors (Johnny Bench commerical for those who remember). The syphon only goes about 2/3 down so you have to refill the can before it's completely empty. Not a big deal. I was very pleasantly surpised how far a gallon of paint goes with this sprayer. I was able to paint the entire railing using less than a gallon...AMAZING! I noticed the sprayer works much better when using a higher psi than what the directions say. I ran it using between 60-80 psi. The directions say 45psi. This might shorten the life of the sprayer, but the price was right. Clean up was pretty simple. I basically cleaned out the metal can and ran two cans of hot tap water through the sprayer. Once the water comes out clear, its clean...At least I hope. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Jmlmt Works good to start
Works good to start seems to put a nice coat on but once you've used it for an hour or so it gets clogged. After a through cleaning it works better again but in less than 20 mins it's clogged again. New paint freshly shakened so no excuse. Don't waster your money.
