Product Overview

Synthetic blend oil improves oil viscosity versus traditional mineral based oils. It offers better protection of internal pump parts by reducing wear and friction. Synthetic blend oil extends the air compressor pump life, especially during cold weather use.

  • Unique non-detergent formulation is for use in air compressor pumps only and not gas engines
  • A detergent type oil (used in car engines) suspends the contaminates and particles which are then removed by the oil filter, applications without oil filters (such as air compressors) should use non-detergent oil so the contaminates and particles settle to the bottom
  • Synthetic blend air compressor oil is shipped in a convenient 16 oz. bottle
  • Review the maintenance section of your oil lube air compressor owner's manual and perform scheduled maintenance as necessary

Answer:
This oil is meant to be added to the compressor oil reservoir. There is a different oil that is dripped into the air tool fitting each day of use to lubricate the inner parts of the tool.

absolutely not, you need to get manufactures recommended type lubricant for the compressor pump, preferably a synthetic or synthetic blend especially if you are in a cold climate that reaches near 35 degrees or below, for cold starts are the hardest and cause the most wear on startups. Ingersoll Rand all season select synthetic compressor lubricant is a very good lube for reciprocating type compressors. I believe this is for type T30 compressors. Its a bit pricey but the extended life of the pump is well worth the additional expense as IR states they extend their service warranty 2 additional years if the consumer uses this lubricant always in the pump. Seems it would be very easy to put viscosity on the label. Or in the meantime, at minimum, to put the viscosity in the "Specifications" and under "Product Overview" on the Home depot website.

Just called the Husky customer service line - they were extremely professional and willing to help. The guy tried to find the weight & couldn't, so he reached out to the manufacturer who confirmed that it's a synthetic blend "between a 23 and 30 weight." The guy tried to find the weight & couldn't, so he reached out to the manufacturer who confirmed that it's a synthetic blend "between a 23 and 30 weight." I'll be using this in my Makita MAC5200, which recommends SAE 20W for 33.8°F - 78.8°F and SAE 30W above 80.6°F - not very ideal considering you could easily straddle those ranges within a single day. Based on all this, I think the Husky oil should be suitable for my needs as I'll be crossing over between these ranges but unlikely to see the extremes of either.
I do agree that this info should be written on the product, though. Read Less

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by synthetic blend wanted full synthetic air compressor but not carried by home depot. had to settle for a blend. this is not the oil there 60 gal. compressor requires August 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The photo of the product with black label is not correct. I received the correct product as described in the item description text, and it works very well. The only problem is the photo that is used online. I received a bottle with a red label that reads "Synthetic Blend..." whereas the product photo depicts a black label that reads "Synthetic". There is a difference. I'm still giving 5 stars because I received what I was expecting based on the product description text, and the product works as advertised. January 9, 2015
