Customer Questions & Answers

What does tamper-proof mean?

Asked by: Woody
Woody, A tamper proof torx bit has a recess in the center of the bit to allow it to work on security or tamper proof torx screws or bolts. It will still work on non-taper proof bolts as well.

What is the minimum torque this item can handle?

Asked by: Ely
Minimum is zero ft.lbf.; maximum is 97 ft.lbf. for a T50 Torx bit.

6-point? 5-point?

Photo does not show number of points; did not see in detail.
Asked by: adobero
Adobero, Torx® is an industry standard pattern that features 6 points or fins on the bit or fastener. If you are looking for a bit with only 5 points then it is not a Torx® fastener.

Do I use this with an impact driver or a socket wrench?

I am removing seat belts posts in a van and I'd think they are in pretty tight, what tool should I get to use with this?
Asked by: albertish
Hello albertish, A socket wrench would probably be the best solution. An impact wrench would probably put too much force on the screw. To make the job easier make sure the socket wrench you're using has a long handle for better leverage. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

T50 Tamper-Proof Torx 3/8 in. Drive Bit Socket is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy Torx Drive Bit Socket This is the type of product that you don't need or use every day, but when you need it, there's no substitute. If you have a six point "star" screw to put in, but your drill is too big or awkward to fit in the area, then you can use one of the Torx drive bit sockets to attach to & easily ratchet the screw into place. It has a good, strong grip where it's inserted into the screw and being able to just use a ratchet to securely set the screw as far in as you need it to go is really easy and handy. Again, you may not have situations where you can't just hold your electric drill in place, but when you do, this is the alternative you want to have at your fingertips to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Torx 3/8 in. Drive Bit Socket This torx bit seems to be well built and held up to several uses on a small impact driver and a standard ratchet. The bit and the socket are of two different types of metal the bit is black and the socket is chromed. However the bit does not come out of the socket and is not replaceable so you have to replace the whole socket rather than just the bit. They say that it has a lifetime warranty so that should not be a problem but it is a little bit of a waste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid tool I have received a ten piece Husky "Torx" socket set and the ones I did use prove to be a solid tool. Attaches to a 3/8th drive wrench. The sockets are meaty and torx head is as well. Means to say that it is made of quality metal with what appears to be a percision head with regards to the quality of torx. Also has the "Security" head torx for that security torx screw. The sockets are sold separately with a wide range of "T" sizes. Quality product...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tools for using The Torx bits that came are very heavy duty. Good for any job and come back for more use. Very good looking as tools go. Reminds me of Snap on tools that are very polished. I would recommend these to anyone that is working with special equipment that take Torx bits. Thank you for such a nice products. I will use them a lot. Thanks again for the great tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from T30 bit top of bit to socket face 13/32 deep (reach of bit until you contact face of socket) then... T30 bit top of bit to socket face 13/32 deep (reach of bit until you contact face of socket) then add length socket length. Bit does not come out of socket. 3/8 drive. Quality is on par with all the others out there. Not marked on tool, but made in China like most everything else. Good value for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice little bit This little T25 bit worked perfectly with my impact driver and adapter (to fit onto a 1/2 in. driver). I work with torx screws a lot and this drive pattern or square grip the best, while phillips bits typically strip or break easy due to their design, which is why the former are preferred in concrete, decking, and other high strength applications, especially when working with impact tools. Torx are also commonly found on some cars and motorsports vehicles; it's one of those things you never know you'll need until you get there. I have never seen a torx bit break before, and am not expecting to either. I was able to put 4 inch decking screws through lumber without any wear or stripping on the bit. Husky is a good brand, and even though the quality might cost you a little more, it's worth it. . . imagine being on a job and having the bit break on you and not having any extras laying around. I have had this happen with drill bits and philips bits, and it really sucks when you have to run to the store for a stupid little thing that's holding back your project and having guys wait on you.
