We had knocked down a wall in our kitchen and sanding the new sheetrock was the part of the project I was dreading the most. This tool made it probably the easiest part of the whole job. And for $20.
I hooked it up to my 9 gallon shop vac (used a bag liner to keep the drywall dust from clogging the filter) and just started sanding. I used 120 screens, which were a little coarser that I wanted, but the vacuum system worked flawlessly.
I sanded about 300 sqft of drywall. I didn't lay down drop cloths or hang plastic sheeting. After I was all done the amount of powder I swept up would not have filled a shot glass. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

If you are removing popcorn off your ceiling, you need this. First, scrap off as much popcorn by using your shop vac, a putty knife and some duct tape. You can make a vac scraper with these and the water head attachment. The attachment makes a great catcher of corn when it falls as you scrap..I attached my youtube on getting popcorn off..... Once all the big chunks are off, use this sander to smooth it out. No way around it, getting popcorn off ceilings is going to be messy but if you use your shop vac, the mess is much smaller.. I'm going to put textured wall paper on my ceiling and i needed it as smooth as i could get it.
Note.....do not use this sander to get the popcorn off. It will take forever. You must get that corn off before, then smooth it out with this sander...

Used it with a brand new shop vac, you get minimum suction and it does work for a while, even with a bag in and then the filter in my shop vac clogs up. Once it's unclogged works again until it clogs up.
The sanding part is light enough but the suction part gets in the way.
Used this for a day and went back to using without the pipe attached.
Tried it , for $20 worth a try.

This is an excellent attachment that sucks of all of the fine dust from sanding. We purchased it when small drywall repairs needed to be sanded and because of severe breathing problems of a family member. . It's easy to connect and use with a shop vac.

Taping and mudding drywall is one area where you separate the pros from the amateurs very quickly. Me? I'm terrible at it, and I don't like doing it. I use way too much mud, and I always make a big mess at sanding time.
Now, with this thing, I still use way too much mud, but the mess at sanding time is nearly non-existent. Sure, it's noisy with the vac running, but who cares? This completely changes drywall projects for a lousy DIY-er like me. I imagine a competent DIY-er would find this useful at times, and maybe even a pro. Best $20 I've spent at HD in a long time.
One suggestion: spend a couple bucks on a filter bag for your vac to catch the super-fine drywall dust. It's way cheaper than the deluxe filter, and catches the mess at least as well.
My only complaint with this product is that nobody told me to buy it sooner.
PS -- Look for it with the sandpaper in the paint department.

I used this to sand the walls of my kitchen and dining room. I used light weight joint compound to cover my entire walls (produces less dust). The previous owner had done a thick texture on the walls that looked horrible, and I wanted the walls smooth again. After sanding, I had maybe a shot glass full of dust. If my shop vac was a little stronger, I probably would have had less than that. I made sure to vacuum off the face of the mesh/screen sanding sheet every so often as well to allow better air flow into the vacuum. I dont think this would work well at all with standard sandpaper because it wouldnt be able to suck the dust through it like it can with the sanding mesh. MAKE SURE to use a bag inside of your shop vac. If not, the dust will either clog your filter and burn up your vacuum, or the dust will blow back through the exhaust and into the air. USE A BAG!!

I have no idea why I did not purchase this sander kit in the past when I had so many DIY projects at home. If I had this kit before, I would've saved so much prep time and $$$ spent on all those plastic covers. Now that I am remodeling my new/used house, this kit will become my best friend when sanding.
One thing, before you pay for it, open the box and make sure that all items are accounted for and that the hose has the tail pieces at each end (i got one of them defective out of the box).
I am also a bit disappointed that 4 of the stores in 20mi radius from my house could not locate this item in their stores, despite the fact they had them available in the database. I guess that's a branch management issue :)
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the performance of this product.

Much less dust when using this! We have gutted and drywalled almost every room in our home and have always had to deal with a major mess. I saw this product online and decided to give it a try. When sanding our living room it left WAY less dust. My only issue was listening to the shop vac for all that time but i guess i would be listening to it anyways if we were to have to clean up all the mess later! Just remember to buy a special bag to use in your shop vac or you can blow up the motor with the fine dust....spoken from experience ;)
