Customer Questions & Answers

how many of the window units part#Sk625 can this unit handle and unsure will this unit make call opon alam being set off

Asked by: jimbo
The dialer SK618 can handle up to 23 sensors, which can be all SK625 if you want. One sensor per zone 1 to 7, 8 sensors in zone 8, and 8 sensors in 24H zone. Any triggering sensor will set off the dialer to dial out up to 5 stored telephone numbers, and sounding the integrated siren. You need a landline (PSTN type, not VoIP) for dialing out.

Is the range of the 618 60 ft or 60 meters? An answer to a prior question leads me to believe meters, though the HD spec shows feet.

Asked by: Tom
The range is 60 meters or a little over 180 feet. A wall especially with wiring in it would likely cut that to about 100'. The frequency that the unit operates at means that grounded metal objects in front of the line of sight to the home transmitter or dialer will pick off the signal from the sensor. If that happens try to move the sensors and the base unit to a position right against the wall with no metal/wiring inside.

I have an existing system that is wired. Can this be integrated into an existing system?

Asked by: jwc
No, The SK618 work with products from ideal security only. Some of your existing wired contacts would work with the SK618 if wired to the back panel of the SK618.

My home is secured by Monitronics

My 2-yr contract has long expired. Can your product be adapted to utilize both wired and wireless sensors now in use?
Asked by: Nicholas
You cannot use your wireless sensors with the SK618. For the wired sensors, if they are normally closed contacts, then you can wire them to the back panel of the SK618. And you can reuse your wired siren as well. There are two contacts terminals, and one siren terminal in the back panel for wire connections.

I had some concerns over the range that the unit would transmit between two buildings but found that once I placed the temperature transmitter directly against a nonconductive wall the unit worked at 125 feet. Using it primarily as a heat loss alarm in two greenhouses along with a power failure alert. I inadvertently tested the power failure aspect by briefly unplugging the probe while moving it and got a call and loud alarm in seconds. Just a note here in that I did not have a landline available in the buildings so used a portable "Home Phone" battery backed cellular device to act as the landline. Worked perfectly for $10 a month.

Also bought the temperature sensor. I am pretty tech savvy but the directions were not always helpful. I had to call the tech support number. That person (in Montreal, Canada) was EXCELLENT. Patient, funny at times, and very helpful. I've only had it a few weeks. I did a trial run and it worked. I hope it never has to call me because that means my house has no heat. In winter in MI that is not what I want. I bought this so if it happens when I'm out of town I'll know and so will someone local.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low quality Old, non-friendly software, and the overall unit was low quality. I ended up returning, as a freeze alarm you can't afford failure.
