Answer:
The sensor sends out a wireless RF signal to the main unit once triggered. The RF signal transmitting range is approx. 100 ft in open space. This signal would be degraded If there were structures in the transmission path. You have to test the system in your actual environment for an accurate assessment.

I don't want to be alerted all day long with sound that door is open, only when I come in the house and turn off the lights at night, so a small light would be perfect.

There is visual alert on the main unit. When main unit is armed, Two LEDs will flash once the garage door is open.
Use the included remote to arm, disarm then main unit.
No sound, no flash LEDs if main unit is not armed when garage door is open

Answer:
At this time, we do not sell the garage door sensor by itself. We are working on it, but it may be 6 months before it will be available. You can link (connect) Ideal's SK621 or SK625 door / window sensors to the garage door alert. Instructions on how to link them are provided and our help desk is available as well.

Answer:
No there is no light. If the garage door is open and the unit is on it will give you a continues beep. When the door is closed it will stop sounding.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Garage door alert Install was easy. However, the range of the receiver was less than 40 feet so finding a place to put the receiver so it could be noticed easily was a bit of a challenge. Other than that it seems to work fine January 5, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Garage door sensor I ordered this item but I did not read the specifications carefully. I wanted a unit that would just show a green/red light to confirm if the door was open/closed. Unfortunately, I discard the packaging material otherwise I'd return it. Can I return it without the packaging material? December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The product does work as advertised The hardware was easy to setup and install, the batteries that are included are common and easily available from any hardware store, the range of the wireless connections do exceed the manufacturers listings. June 11, 2013
