Rated 4 out of 5 by from First time I ordered this system to let me know if my sump pump stopped working so my basement would not flood. Ordering was easy, shipping was quick and the product works as stated. Very pleased

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems To Do Its Job We have had a typical water alarm for many years now. It actually did go off once, when we had a bit of water in our basement. Unfortunately, we didn't find out until we got home from work. When I saw this available I grabbed it immediately; it's a great idea that can save someone a lot of trouble and money. Installation was not as smooth as I thought it would be. The directions are ok, but certainly not great. A few more pictures showing step by step directions would have been nice. Also, the caller needs to be within reach of a phone jack and power outlet. The battery is only for back up and there is no mobile feature that allows the caller to be wireless. This is unfortunate and makes the final look of the caller messy because of the wires and antenna sticking out from the box. There are certainly a ton of features, some seem to make more sense than others though. I like that it will call my phone and if there is no answer it will call again for a predetermined number of times. I also like that it will call up to 5 numbers, and that I can prerecord a message that plays for the recipient. The range of the sensor seems to be fine for me. I have it placed about 35ft (linear) from the caller behind 2 metal clad outside doors. Programming the caller is not very user friendly, but the directions are very specific as to which keys need to be pressed and in which order. To program anything, however, many, many keys need to be pressed. This absolutely takes away from its ease of use. Also, the screen is not bright at all. In fact, it's so dim that I really couldn't see the display and had to go on faith that I was pressing the right keys, in the right order, to program the caller's various features. Ultimately it worked, but boy was I working blind. This, again, takes away from its ease of use. Finally, after I had it all set up and tested, I noticed that the prerecorded message started to play before I must have answered the phone, because although it repeats several times, the first time it played I only heard 1/2 of the message. As a result, I had to waste time and listen to it a second time through. In an emergency, this is less than ideal. One feature lets you speak from your phone into the room that contains the caller. It is sort-of like an intercom. This is an ok feature, but what are the odds that the caller and the sensor are in the same room? Also, you can't talk and listen at the same time which makes this feature a bit useless. So, yes, I would recommend this to a friend, but if there was a model with a better screen, that was more user friendly, and had a wireless calling feature, I would recommend that model over this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this thing...... Two years ago we had a flood in our finished basement due to a clogged toilet on the main floor. We were all home but no one had needed to use the bathroom so it went unnoticed for over an hour causing over $ 50,000.00 in damage to walls, floors, ceilings and personal property. Which is why I ordered this unit. Installation was easy. I'm not as technologically advanced so I had to read the instructions a few times. But once I got it set up it worked great,, If I had this prior to my last flood it would have saved a lot of time and money and I think its a small price to pay for the peace of mind. Even the audible alarm on this is loud enough for me to hear from anywhere in the house, This is money well spent and you will be very pleased

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Peace Of Mind While I can’t say this water alarm is particularly intuitive to set up, it was easier than I expected. If you’re careful to do EXACTLY what the instructions say, you won’t have any trouble. I had it completely setup with 4 numbers programmed in & tested within 20 minutes. The sensor is located about 20 feet from the base with no issues. I tested it once with the built in test function and twice by dipping the sensor in water – each time the alarm worked flawlessly and the caller made its way through the programmed numbers. It has a good array of features, though for my purposes, I really don’t see how the listen in/broadcast to the room functions are useful. I do appreciate that it automatically calls up to 5 pre-programmed telephone numbers and that there is no monthly fee associated with the device. I have been plagued with residential water problems – one time a pipe sheered off and filled my entire 1,200 SF basement with 8 inches of water. This product will alert someone within seconds of such an instance, and that’s what I want – a warning system to let me know if there’s a water problem when I’m not home. The downside I found to this product is that apparently the recorded message starts when the phone starts ringing, not when someone answers. Thus, whoever answers typically gets the message starting somewhere in the middle. And in one instance, it actually went onto the next caller before the person who answered had a chance to hear all of the menu options. Assuming all of your emergency contacts are aware of the alarm & what the recording means, I don’t see that being a major issue though. In the future, I think this product would be more popular if they offered a way to make calls over wifi – I know a lot of people who no longer have a landline in their home. Overall: setup could be a little more user-friendly & the message could start on answer instead of looping, but even as it stands, this product serves its purpose. If you have a landline & want some peace of mind that your home isn’t flooding while you’re away at work or on vacation, this is a good product at a reasonable price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can’t buy into this very dated approach This device absolutely does what they claim, and does it well … BUT … I’ve had this device for a few months now and found it to be difficult to review. At first I thought it was because I being lazy, but eventually it dawned on me. Other than the fact that testing it was scaring my dog, the real reason that I was struggling was because this type of device and user interface is so dated, interacting with it was uncomfortable to me. Twenty years ago this interface and approach to solving water and door monitoring was how it was done. There was no other way. But today, this is just crazy to me. This reminds me of what a small company would use at the office building to monitor for serious and unexpected problems, like a burst tank. I couldn’t imagine using this to monitor regular occurrences due to the process required to acknowledge and turn off the alarm. I personally believe that getting a phone call with a repeating message instructing me to press this for that and that for this is simply no longer how it’s done. I’ve been experimenting with home automation controllers, switches, dimmers and sensors along with a smart phone, tablet or web interface, and to me I can’t see using technology like this, which is decades behind. Another reason it took me so long to write this review was that I really wanted to test the dial-out functionality. I finally realized I just didn’t want to, because I’m not going to install this in the intended application (barn cellar water). I would rather purchase a water sensor that I can monitor through my existing home automation controller. Instead of having a siren wailing in the barn and on the remote device in my house I can easily see the situation on my phone anywhere and respond in an unpacked fashion. Also, the new, modern sensors work in a variety of technologies and approaches (internet of things) including communicating in a mesh that extends the range. SETUP: Unless you use this device daily, you will the directions every time you interact with it. It uses the old-school approach involving pressing setup n times to get to a category, along with up/down buttons and a program button. Every keypress punishes you with a loud buzz and the siren is insanely loud. I found no way to adjust that, other than disabling the siren. Configuring this device is quite involved and will take you some time if you wish to make changes. Resetting the device appears to remember your settings which is good news. QUALITY: The build quality of the device seems to be excellent. It’s rugged plastic with a strong LCD display. The remote sensor is also sturdy and works flawlessly when exposed to water.
