Answer:
Yes you can wired two chimes for one door button. As long as both chimes are IQ America's and you have a 16V transformer. You would need to duplicate the input wires from the transformer to each chime. It usually doesn’t work if you just add wires from one chimes connections that go straight to the other chime. (In parallel not in series). You will need only one diode for the front push button. Thank Read More

will this work without installing the second doorbell button? Is that the reason there is a diode that must be installed?

Wired Step-Up Westminster Door Chime Kit is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor quality I am an electrical contractor, and I really hate this product line. I bought a replacement door bell for a customer, but it was not compatible with the existing transformer. So, I went to Home Depot to buy the required transformer, a 16 volt - 15 watt unit. Quess what, they dont sell it, Home Depot (Rancho Cordova & Roseville CA) only stock the 16 volt - 10 watt transformer. Next I bought the 'contractor pack'. A complete system with a 16 volt - 15 watt transformer, a button, and the door bell. The instructions say that a diode is included, but the diode was not included. I'm tired of driving back and fourth - time is money, and the cost of gas is crazy. Tomorrow moring I am going to return this, and buy from a different supplier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR INSTALLATION WAS EASY AND IT WAS HELPFUL THAT THE TRANSFORMER, CHIME AND DOOR BUTTONS ALL CAME IN ONE PACKAGE. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT EVEN WHEN TURNED TO THE HIGHEST VOLUME IT IS NOT AS LOUD AS I WOULD REALLY LIKE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Door Chimes Easy to follow instructions a snap to install and works great, chime and volume instructions also can be installed vertical or horizontal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do not buy if replacing electro-magnetic doorbell! I learned the hard way. Apparently this is not compatible, if replacing an electro-magnetic doorbell. Don't recall seeing on the box this was mentioned. Subtract two stars. Diode is installed on doorbell, which just makes it more complicated. Subtract one more star. Ended up buying another kit that has an electro-magnetic chime and was super easy to install compared to this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good doorbell You have to press and hold the button for the unit to ring. Also the unit continuously clicks. The upgraded styling unit (the satin nickel Westminster chime, Model DW-2840) makes the same annoying background clicking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds good I got one, and it had a problem. I got another one and it works great. The instructions were NOT identical. The second one was more understandable. Make sure the diode is oriented correctly!!! Look carefully when wiring it to the power and unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performed as advertised. If the DIODE were built into the unit vs. the button, I believe installation would be simpler for the novice handyman. Overall, works great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great doorbell kit and works really great The installation was easy and straight forward as long as you follow the direction. If something does not work or/and sound right. All I had to do was check my installation and the troubleshooting guide and it's as easy as 1-2-3 and everything just works like a charm...
