We think IQAir is the best brand. We certify our air purification system to be 99.5% efficient down to 0.003 microns. That is 100x smaller than what other brands claim (0.3 microns). Our Gas and Odor filter is 5 lbs of filtration material while most of our competitors have significantly less. We have eliminated any leakage past the filters and all air coming out of our systems has passed through our filters. Each unit is certified from the factory for it's efficiency and airflow.
However, when you talk about maintenance, there are factors that can affect the cost of any system. We all use an "average" life expectancy for our filters. While the HealthPro Plus does have three filters that range in cost, they typically last longer than our competitors and over a 5 year period of time, the average cost, under average usage, would be about $10-12/month.
We consider "Average Use" to be 10 hours a day on fan speed 3. However, the amount of air you need to move to achieve 2 air exchanges per hour may require you to run the system at a faster fan speed which will reduce your filter life. That would be the same for any air purifier.
Our systems are not the cheapest, but we believe them to be the best. I hope that answers your question. Read Less

IQAir air purification system to not have washable filters. To be effective to the smallest size of Ultra-Fine particulates (0.003 microns), we use patented filter technology and they must be replaced.

Answer:
I would not recommend it since it is made to remove mold from the air! You would need to purchase a new filter with every cycle.
If any trouble on finding the replacement filters, always refer to the manufacturer's website or warranty guide.

No, we currently do not support the Energy Star program for air purifiers. IQAir’s position is that the Energy Star program could contribute to the decline of air cleaner performance and could cause manufacturers to make inferior air cleaners. This is because in order to be “Energy Star” certified, an air cleaner must have an AHAM CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) rating. We have written several articles about how CADR testing causes manufacturers to make low quality air purifiers and have included these links below. However, here are four short reasons why IQAir does not support CADR testing:
1. CADR credits ionization, which is not a permanent method for particulate removal and is potentially dangerous.
2. The test is only 10-15 minutes and does not test for long-term performance or simulate filter loading.
3. CADR test does not measure the removal of ultrafine particles (0.1 microns or smaller), which account for 90% of the material in the air and are the most harmful particle sizes.
4. CADR does not measure gas and odor removal.
For more information on CADR or AHAM testing, please visit our website pages below:

http://www.iqair.com/newsroom/2005/iqair-refutes-consumer-reports-evaluation-of-room-air-cleaners/
At IQAir, we are committed to providing only the very best air quality products. With that being said, the HealthPro Plus uses 27 watts of electricity on fan speed one and 215 watts on fan speed 6. Please consider that fan speed 6 will give you 2 air exchanges per hour in a room that is 1,125 sqft, with 8ft ceilings, and a system air delivery rate of 300 CFM. Read Less

The IQAir HealthPro Plus is rated to cover 1,125 sqft assuming an 8ft ceiling. Air purification is really about Cubic Feet, so we are really talking 9,000 cubic feet.
The most important thing to remember is that you want to be able to exchange the air in a given space a minimum of 2x per hour. To achieve that you may need to run a purifier on the highest fan speed and that will reduce your filter Read More

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed I plugged this air purifier in hoping for fresh air. After a few days of running, however, the air smelled really bad. Like other reviewers, I think the filters inside had absorbed smells from storage and shipping. I checked to make sure I hadn't missed something - like maybe the filters were wrapped up to keep them fresh and needed to be unwrapped. Nope - All the filters were unwrapped and exposed to whatever storage and shipping conditions were. You can also see from the pictures that it was really dirty inside. This is a super expensive air cleaner. I don't have any confidence in it. I think the problem is with the manufacturer's quality control. Each of the tremendously expensive filters should have been sealed and protected. Smelly and dirty filters defeat the purchase. August 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Allergy Free Air - Nice Suffering from seasonal allergies and having asthma and after an older Healthway purifier stopped working, I decided to replace it with the Healthpro Plus. The Healthpro Plus air purifier has greatly reduced my allergy and asthma symptoms indoors. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My top choice for purifying the air I highly recommend the IQAirHealthPro Plus Air Purifier. It gives you the option of 6 fan speeds. We use #6 when were away from the house as it is a tad noisy, but provides maximum air purification in minimal time. We can leave it set on #3 or #4 while we are at home with no disruption to hearing at all. April 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by IQ AIR HEALTHPRO PLUS - Poor performance Does not do what it claims. I had cleaner air after I turned it off. Returning to store. March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase I Have Made I took a lot of time and did a lot of research on which product I was going to buy. This was a very important purchase as my health and my sons health were being tested to say the least. We bought a new house with a fireplace and a woodstove which we haven't had before. My son and I both have asthma so it was important to get the correct air purifier. Hands-down by far the best product I could have purchased. It removes scents and my son and I have been off of our allergy medication for over two months now. Well worth the money for this product! December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by it has a power cord There is a fan inside that spins around. Air goes through maybe 3 different filters. It seems very lightweight to me. I dismantled it to see what made it tick. Just a bunch of filters inside. Bought it because it filters 99.7 percent of dust "at" 3 microns, not "down to" or "as low as".... but "at" ! September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best protection available We live in an area in Southern California with a lot of air pollution, and we have two kids with asthma. After reading about "ultrafine" pollution being the worst, we researched which air cleaners could filter these incredibly small pollution particles, and it turned out only the IQAir can. So we bought one, put it in the kids' bedroom, turn it on whenever we're home and it really has made a difference in the kids' breathing. The rest of us in the family without asthma notice the difference in our breathing too. A great investment! October 20, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product, but costly I have terrible allergies and asthma problems and live in a city known for bad air quality. I bought this more expensive air purifier because of the great reviews and I will say it has made a difference. I do feel like the air is much cleaner in my condo; however, I still have had to use my asthma inhaler almost as frequently as before and have had bad allergy problems still. It definitely works well, is designed well and cleans the air, but I'm just not sure for the steep price this is necessarily the one to go with. November 29, 2011
