It is approximately 60' from my main entrance to my garage 100 amp entrance. The feed to the entrance has frayed where the prior owner ran it under a door sill, only about 5' from the entrance panel. I can't run a new cable without remodeling my finished basement. How do I splice the cable and maintain the consistency of the 100 amps?

Hi Mike,
Well for starters, this wing nut that you asking he question about only will connect wires up to #10 AWG, and your 100 amp service is most likely #2 service entrance.

Hi Mike,
Well for starters, this wing nut that you asking he question about only will connect wires up to #10 AWG, and your 100 amp service is most likely #2 service entrance.
For any wire connections, especially one of this size, it will need to be first housed in a junction box with a cover. This is not just to be code compliant, but also to keep you safe.
I'd recommend to use a splicer connector, and then make sure it is covered with electrical tape. The splicer is shown below in the link:

No matter what connector you choose, it is imperative you first place the wires in a junction box for safe housing.
