High performance 1 GHz Digital Splitter is used for splitting a single coax line into 2 lines. Designed for applications, which include: Digital/HD Cable TV, Broadcast (over the air) TV, CCTV and other general-purpose coaxial cable splitting requirements. Splitter includes an internal printed circuit board design inside of a nickel plated zinc die cast housing which helps to improve overall splitter performance in return loss, insertion loss and port-to-port isolation measurements, resulting in a stronger, cleaner signal with more protection from outside signal interference.
  • Soldered back (not glued) for improved EMI/RFI performance
  • Machine formed threads on the F ports allow for smooth connector mating
  • Nickel plated zinc construction
  • EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness: -120dB

Is this splitter rated for outdoor use?

No it is not good for outside. It gets water in it because of the bad soldering to seal the item.

Can this be used as a Signal Combiner also?

If I have two antennas I want to combine the signal into a single cable down to the TV set, can I use it in reverse, as a signal combiner, plug two outdoor antennas into the output, run one cable from the input down to the TV set - for doubling the receiving power of my antenna by combining two antennas together? I think most splitters are also combiners, is that true for this one and is the entire broadcast TV spectrum covered within the frequency range of 5mhz to 1ghz? Thanks.

If using 2 antennas to combine signals, both antennas lead in cables needs to be exact length. When I first put up my second antenna it messed up a couple of channels using different cable lengths. Seems both antennas pulled in these stations and there were phase problems. I now have 3 antennas all working good each with 3 ft. cables to 3 way splitter then to amp.

notme no it will not improve your wireless signal. I would tell you to move the wireless antenna to another location or just add another wireless access point to improve the coverage of the wireless signal. Good luck Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

What does "over 120 db with rfi shielding" mean? Has it over 120 db?? I've never seen more than 30.

Dar what it means is the splitter is protected from outside electrical noise and that noise would have to be stronger than 120 dB in order to interfere with the good signal. Which is a lot of protection and you can think of it as how resistant the splitter is to electrical noise. Hope that helped Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

Rated 3 out of 5 by from *The 'Yes' for recommending based on use as a splitter only* I purchased this after reading the a... *The 'Yes' for recommending based on use as a splitter only* I purchased this after reading the answers provided by Ron Kipper about pass through and use as a combiner. Since my intention, much as the combiner question had asked, was to attach two antennas pointing in different directions to produce a combined single signal, I bought this product as an attempt to be used in that manner. Without the combiner in-line, I was receiving 4 more stations than with the combiner and 2 antennas. The original antennas direction was never changed, and once the combiner was removed, the 4 additional stations came back. I experimented with changing the terminals the antennas were attached to, and the distance between the antennas themselves, to no avail. I tested the splitter to make sure it was working at least as a splitter, and it appears to be functioning correctly, i.e. 2 tvs received signal from it, so I am a bit baffled by the lack of being able to combine the two antenna signals.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this splitter and used it on an outside OTA antenna. I could not pick up some of my loca... I bought this splitter and used it on an outside OTA antenna. I could not pick up some of my local channels when scanning and the reason was because of a lousy solder job when it was made. After a week or 2 I shook the splitter and out of the connections came water. Therefore I consider they are not good for outside use. All the splitters I used in the past worked a year or more on the outside. The solder job was so lousy that you could slide something between the solder and the frame.
