Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BrandonH Easily the best coax stripper I have used!
When I received my Ideal Stripmaster in the from FedEx, I was very impressed on the packaging that the folks from Home Depot did. After buying this tool from Home Depot online and seeing how well they packaged it and how fast the standard shipping was, I will be purchasing online from them any chance I get.
Having previously working in the high speed data field, I am very comfortable saying this tool by Ideal is the nicest coax stripper I have seen yet.
I will start by saying there is no Plastic at all on this tool. When you pick it up for the first time you can just feel the quality that went in to building it. Traditional prep tools are plastic and constantly break. Not this one!
On a more traditional tool, you would insert your coax, grip the coax and prep tool in a way that holds the coax from spinning while pinching the blades of the prep tool as you spin it clockwise and then counter clockwise to insure you have made the cut.
This tool takes most of those steps out of the process and does it with style. Put your coax in to the blade that is well marked as "RG6 Coax". Squeeze the handle and it strips the outer shielding off that fast. No gripping, twisting and hoping your blade does not break.
Put your almost ready coax in to the next marked hole on the prep tool and squeeze the handle again. This time it removes the di-electric and gives you a perfectly stripped / prepped piece of coax ready for an F type connector.
This entire process could be done within 10 seconds by anyone. I handed the tool to my wife and asked her to use it in the next bedroom and she had it figured out on her first try. It would make a great tool for anyone to keep in their toolbox around the house. It beats chasing down a cable guy or paying for an expensive service call to simply replace fittings.
Anyone working in the professional field that needs a Coax Stripper should give this one serious consideration. There is no cheap plastic and the blades are easily replaceable.
