Door looks great. The door is a bit thick for the channel of my door but it does sit in securely. This causes the header to be about a half inch short but that is not a big deal for me. Other than that he install was pretty easy.
When I recieved the door the package was in good condition but one of the nylon "springs" was broken. I called the support number and they shipped me new ones which I received in two days.
I've had the door two weeks, and it works and looks great. I previously had a dog door with a single flexible flap. It took a few days for my dog to get used to it, but now she loves the wider door.

I did a lot of research before deciding on this door. I needed the most weather tight and energy efficient door possible and when I saw that this door had those features and that it was made just for vinyl patio sliders, my decision was made. It fits beautifully and was not too hard to install. I am a 61 year old woman, who is fairly handy, and was able to do it by myself. Having another person to help would have made it easier, but I was able to manage alone. Honestly, the hardest part was the last step of trying to make my slider's lock work with the new dog door. It took a bit of trail and error to get it to line up and latch, but I was finally successful. This door is used by my 4 dogs ranging in size from a 9 pound Chihuahua to a 50 pound Australian Shepherd. The flap is definitely heavier and harder to move than their previous door, but they all quickly learned. The porch that the door exists onto is a bit lower than the house, so I did add a cement block as a step to help the Chihuahua. The door looks very nice and matches my slider perfectly. I am very pleased with it!

This door works very well if you DON'T plan to use a screen door with your patio door. The dog door is designed to insert into the sliding door track. The sliding glass door is mounted to the inside track of the door frame. When you close the sliding door it is secure against the dog door. However, the stationary glass panel of the door has a thickness of [on our Milgard doors] approximately 2 inches. The screen track is mounted to the exterior of that. This is where you have a major problem. If you want to leave your sliding door open for ventilation, you need to close the screen door to keep unwanted pests out of your home. The screen door sits out and away from the dog door about 2 inches. If you close your screen door all the way to eliminate a pest problem, the screen door blocks the flap on the dog door. In order to keep the dog door unobstructed you need to keep the screen door open and not covering the dog door. There is nothing to seal the screen door at that junction point. There is no modification kit available. It was necessary for me to have my contractor do major modifications to the door in order to seal the screen door when it is closed, as well as prevent it from traveling in front of the dog door. Major design flaw.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Winnifred great door for our dogs
I was a bit worried about the dog door size itself as it looked small (we have a 100lb yellow lab) but it fit him just fine. Something I hadn't thought about when putting up the door, and I didn't read it in the directions at all but there is an inside to the door and an outside. Probably why the latch catch didn't fit when I tried to put it back on. Overall the directions were very easy to follow though despite other reviews I had read saying how hard it was.

This door was not easy to install. I have seen others that are put in without tools. The piece between the sliding door and dog door does not fit well.

It took some time to install, its not permanent, but once you get it in there you won't want to take it out. The door lock didn't exactly work with our door because we live in a manufactured home so the frame was not square. Overall the whole door is very sturdy, as well as the cover to the dog door. Our dog uses it with ease, and the dog door hasn't broke even with our dog running into the house from outside.

Although this product was a bit more money than we were looking to spend, we were putting in a southern-exposure sliding door, and it was well worth the cost. After paying for dual-paned wood doors, it would have been silly to go with a lower-end product that would allow substantial noise and heat transfer.
Our wood slider is 2" thick, so the channel doesn't fit, but we added weather stripping and requested a slightly longer H-section, and we are thrilled with the end result!
Great customer service! I had to call them about getting the slightly longer H-section. Without any hassle, they ensured we were able to make our product fit well!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Crystal human door opening too small with this door
If I installed this door in my brand new standard size Anderson vinyl slider I would have had only 12.5 inches to walk through myself. The frame width is much wider than my previous aluminum dog door with the exact same size flap. Had to return it and will put a dog door through the wall. I didn't know how wide the opening on the slider would be since I ordered it at the same time as the dog door.
If you have a door with a wider opening, I am sure this is just fine.
