I bought the Ideal Pet Sliding Glass Insert and I ordered this Premium Draft Stopper Door to replace the flimsy plastic that came with the Insert, thinking I could just swap the flapper out.
You cannot just swap the flapper. The dimensions are a bit smaller on the Sliding Insert than on the Premium Door.

I bought a Dremel and cut the Sliding Insert a bit wider to fit the Premium Door, and was able to make it work.
So if you want to do the work, you can make it fit; but if you think it will just swap out, it will not.
Hope this helps. Read Less

Out here we get 20+mph winds with some frequency, and occasionally the door will blow open, and once I saw the wind hold the door open, but that was a very strong wind, and it didn't last long.
Both dogs(that we have now adopted) came from a shelter that allowed them access to the outdoors via a dog door as flimsy as most I have seen while shopping around. I could tell this door was a bit better because all of the dogs we have had over here(4 so far) have been hesitant to go through the door at first, as if they weren't expecting it to have as much resistance that this one has.
I imagine if a big enough snake wanted in bad enough, or some other critter just had to see the inside of the house, they might be able to push the door open with some effort.
This door comes with a locking cover panel which works well. I have been putting the dogs out during the day and securing the door with the sliding panel which also helps keep wind and other critters out, and then letting them inside before dark. They sleep by the door, so I leave it unlocked at night so they can patrol the yard and do their business at will. Read Less

Answer:
You will need to add some extra framing for support. You could glue and screw the framing in place because the trim on the dog door would cover your screws holding the wood to the overhead door panel.

i purchased this dogie door and had it installed for less than 90 days. Big storm with high winds came thru and the rubber holding the flaps together were ripped apart! I don't need the complete kit but would like to get: A. a replacement flap with something stronger than the weak rubber or B. a solid replacement flap to prevent this from happening in the future. Where and how do I get one?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nicely made doggie door It was easy to install. I like how the door doesn't swing very long after the dog has gone through it. I am still working on my older dogs going through it. They need a little guidance, but my younger dog uses it all the time. September 27, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good for one old dog, not for puppies I bought 2 doors, one for me and one for a friend. I installed both and it was not very hard. One turned out to be smoke/tinted and the other clear. Wish I had know as I would have put the tinted one facing the sun. Anyway, my friend has big adult dog and his door is still in great shape. I on the other hand have 4 dogs and 3 of the 4 are puppies. I installed the door when the mom was pregnant. The now 9 month old puppies run through the door. They are in and out all day, so it gets lots of use. But after only 9 months and the door flap is falling apart. I have duck tape holding the panels together now and I see I can buy a replacement door for only $25. I do not need new panels, just the rubber "I" beams that hold the 3 flaps together. If I am forced to spend 1/3 the price of the door every 9 months, I am going to look for a better door. December 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Dog door Door is heavy and hits second dogs in head when one goes through now they are afraid of it so only my big dog will go in and out of it . had to buy the other one they sell with flap now all but one will go in and out of it so even though its a good product can not recommend it for people that have more than one dog. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by third time is the charm? Getting ready to replace this dog door AGAIN for the third time. Rubber between panels keep tearing, cant find a replacement so I end up replacing whole thing. Stuck with this door since the screw holes don't match up on different models. Home Depot personnel are NO help! (I have 3 small dogs) August 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific pet door - very quiet when used by the dogs, keeps out the cold This is our third pet door, and the second one of this type. Our other brand pet door makes a very loud sound when pets come in and out, a fact that was pointed out by the very knowledgeable store sales associate. He showed why the other type was so loud, and this one quiet. They were out of stock in the store, so I ordered online. Unit arrived promptly. Installation was a challenge in the metal exterior door. I didn't have my metal blade for my circular saw, so I had to cut the opening by hand with a small 10" Stanley mini hack saw with a dull blade in both sides of the door, at a rate of 10 minutes per inch. The cut took hours. June 16, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Doggie door Although designed for large dogs they last about a year. We are on our third one in four years. I bolted the first one back together and it lasted two years. The rubber that holds the sections together breaks. August 9, 2016
