Since HD is sending me these emails constantly to rate this purchase, I figured I might as well respond. This is the door you want if you have a shorter sliding glass door (for instance, manufactured houses). The "Shorty" is the only one on the market at a moderate price that will fit the short sliders. I speak from experience, as I searched for many months and still was leery until I had this one in hand. I also have the next size taller that I installed in a family member's standard sized slider and I had to partially dissasemble the metal bracket to make that one work because of the tall lip on the frame. This one fits much better because it is made to fit right. That said, you will want to purchase additional foam or other padding to cushion the sides if you have an exuberant or large dogs such as my dobermans. The young one hits that flap like a missle launch, and the metal against metal is not tight in there without a little help. We had carpet put in at the same time, and I found carpet padding strips worked great in the seams, inside and out. Bonus, the AC doesn't leak out and the bugs do not creep in. My dogs are happy left with their freedom, and I'm happy they are happy. I can even still lock the full sliding door without removing the pet door for times both dogs and humans leave the house. The magnetic flap actually works and the magnet seems strong. Expect the flap to eventually wear out with constant use and big dogs, but the company sells reasonably priced replacements. I would buy this again.

Door was thin, no way to attach to my own sliding door, no way to lock it in place, lock they provided did not fit my slider door jam so had to use a stick to keep slider door from opening. The weather stripping was not thick enough. I think better to have dog door built into the wall.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Connie easy to install. great
Took longer to open the box than it did to install. It does let a considerable amount of coldness seep through (it's aluminum after all), but it doesnt get very cold here so it's no big deal to me. Maybe some of that 3M weather proofing window shrink wrap stuff might help if you need it.

We needed a way for our dog to get in after he let himself out. This seemed like the best option-well, it doesn't exactly fit the way it should have. The regular size was too big by 1/4 inch, so we ordered the Short version, which was too short. We added a piece of wood into the Spring loaded adjustment which worked out Ok.
the weather stripping is flimsy, and didn't stick at all the way it should for a exterior door use. Works great for moving in place during day and removing at night. The truth it is not secure for safety sakes. still meets our needs to have some door closure and protection from elements after our dog goes out.

This is a great door. Easy to install. My pointer can go in and out as she pleases. Only bad things are there is no locking mechanism, so We have to put a dowel so no one can open the regular part of sliding door and in the winter you have to get a nice piece of insulation so no drafts come in from side.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Linda It's ok for our short term rental house.
Doesn't fit very well and lots of gaps to let in the air, but for the money it allows my dogs to go in and out by themselves. We are in a short term rental. So it is good enough for now. When we buy a house I will invest in a better quality door.

We have an older house, so this is one of the only options for a dog door that will fit in our older sliding glass door. The product fit our door, the dog door works great and the dog loves it. It also comes out easily if we want to lock up the house if we're out of town.
We did have to use a lot of materials to try and close gaps. Still don't have a tight seal on the door, but it's as good as it'll get for a temporary door.

Very easy to install. I did reinforce the weather stripping, to fill in gaps against cold air. Partly due to my sliding door not being even. The dog door looks great. We no longer worry about the dogs being stuck in or out, if we are away from home over night.
