Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jacavious Great fit for older homes with the short sliding doors. Easy install, about 30 minutes. Only flaw is the back end weather striping does not stay on well. Not a huge issue for me, as my door keeps air out well even when cracked, but it could be an issue for some.

This door did not have a secure lock and at the price it should have come with it The door was also harder for my Goldens to go in and out as the door for the dogs seems taller from the bottom making it a task to get out my older dog cannot get back in because of this issue

Door was thin, no way to attach to my own sliding door, no way to lock it in place, lock they provided did not fit my slider door jam so had to use a stick to keep slider door from opening. The weather stripping was not thick enough. I think better to have dog door built into the wall.

Since HD is sending me these emails constantly to rate this purchase, I figured I might as well respond. This is the door you want if you have a shorter sliding glass door (for instance, manufactured houses). The "Shorty" is the only one on the market at a moderate price that will fit the short sliders. I speak from experience, as I searched for many months and still was leery until I had this one in hand. I also have the next size taller that I installed in a family member's standard sized slider and I had to partially dissasemble the metal bracket to make that one work because of the tall lip on the frame. This one fits much better because it is made to fit right. That said, you will want to purchase additional foam or other padding to cushion the sides if you have an exuberant or large dogs such as my dobermans. The young one hits that flap like a missle launch, and the metal against metal is not tight in there without a little help. We had carpet put in at the same time, and I found carpet padding strips worked great in the seams, inside and out. Bonus, the AC doesn't leak out and the bugs do not creep in. My dogs are happy left with their freedom, and I'm happy they are happy. I can even still lock the full sliding door without removing the pet door for times both dogs and humans leave the house. The magnetic flap actually works and the magnet seems strong. Expect the flap to eventually wear out with constant use and big dogs, but the company sells reasonably priced replacements. I would buy this again.

I wish I'd gotten this sooner, as I've been my Golden Retriever's doorman for a long time. At first she hesitated to use the door, but within a couple of days she was coming in and out at will and it has made my life so much easier! The doggie door was not difficult to install, but it was necessary to add extra weather stripping. Something obvious that didn't even cross my mind when I was considering getting this type of doggie door was that, insulation-wise, it would be the weak link in the overall air tightness of all my doors and windows. However, now that I know this, it's still worth it to me and I would still choose it.

We needed a way for our dog to get in after he let himself out. This seemed like the best option-well, it doesn't exactly fit the way it should have. The regular size was too big by 1/4 inch, so we ordered the Short version, which was too short. We added a piece of wood into the Spring loaded adjustment which worked out Ok.
the weather stripping is flimsy, and didn't stick at all the way it should for a exterior door use. Works great for moving in place during day and removing at night. The truth it is not secure for safety sakes. still meets our needs to have some door closure and protection from elements after our dog goes out.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gabby it is easy install. needs more insulation.
It's a beautiful door. I just have a odd size in my house. Not much room to get in and out for me when I open the sliding glass door. Otherwise it is the best one I have ever purchased. Just wish it came with more insulation a lot more.
