I have two large dogs, a chocolate lab (stocky, about 85 lbs) and a bloodhound (tall, about 85lbs). Initially, I had bought the "extra large" door but exchanged it for this one, the "super large." So glad I did. Each dog fits through the door perfectly with a bit of wiggle room in case there's some weight gain and/or they are sprinting through the door. A carpenter installed the door on my paneled door and it turned out great. If you install on paneled door, just be sure that the frame sits beyond the panels. That way, when it's completely installed, there are no gaps that need to be filled. (see pic) Because it has double flaps, it keeps out the heat/cold as much as possible.
I've only had this door for a couple of months, so I can't speak to much to it's durability, but so far no issues. It's installed in my laundry room, so I don't worry about how it looks aesthetically. However, it does allow a lot of natural light to enter, so that I do like.

The dog door is an excellent product and easy to install if you follow the directions. The dual door keeps out the weather and the construction is solid. I used black plastic paint to paint the exterior window to keep the sun and heat out and it works perfect. It's nice to have it to where the dog can come and go as he pleases. GREAT PRODUCT!........It's my third purchase on this item.

Looked all over for an affordable solution to our dogs ease of access to the out of doors. Most solutions were nearly $800 for the size of our dog. This product met the need at a much more affordable price.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by doggylover GREAT Dog Door. HUGE!!!!!
We had a sliding door doggy door but it was too short for our Shepherd and we will be getting a male Shepherd so need it even taller, Also, we didn't want to eat up any more of our sliding door space with a larger door. (I'm not sure they make one tall enough for our needs unless we special ordered but we knew it would need to be wider.)
The door, itself, is not hard to install. If installing in a wall, remember rough opening is 16.75" Studs in most houses are 16" on center. (that means the space between the studs will be about 14.5") I knew that going in so was prepared but, you will need to do something with at least one stud. We were fortunate that the location was next to an interior wall so we had extra studs where the interior and exterior walls came together. But, if not, you may need to shore up the studs on either side and put in a header for the dog door to meet code. The door is HUGE. I can actually notice an increase in the amount of light that comes into the room. From the outside, it looks like we have some sort of modern window theme going on or something.
FYI, I was going to install this myself but we needed to move two electrical outlets (one inside the house and one outside) to get it to fit where we wanted it and I didn't really want to deal with the studs in my walls so I hired someone to install it. I'm glad I did. He was able to get it all done in one day. He had all the tools he needed to cut through stucco, move wires and install it very well!
I love that it has two flaps. no escaping heat or cool air! The dogs took to it right away, two flaps didn't seem to bother them. (they are both used to doggy doors of various kinds and different friend's houses.) I think the little one likes the "tunnel" in between the two flaps. He can get ready to jump up or down and doesn't have to fly through in one leap.
(i found it was actually less expensive to purchase the door for a door and get the wall kit separately.)
We got this huge dog door because we have one small dog , 9lbs and one large dog, 80+lbs and they both need to use the door. I was also worried it would be hard to step through the door if it were too high when the dogs get older. We will be putting a ramp outside for everyone since we have a crawl space and the door is quite high up. So, it's 5" off the floor making it 28" tall. It's probably 24" off the patio outside. - hence the need for a ramp, step or something.

The Ruff Weather Pet door was just what we needed. it was fairly easy to install but if you are not sure there are some good videos you can watch that are helpful, or you can hire it done. It takes a little longer than you might think, but if your time and do it right, it will be fine. I like the fact that it has a double set of clear vinyl floppy doors with magnets on the bottom to bring it back to a closed position, with an air space between the doors. It seems to seal well and my dogs are getting used to it after some practice. There is a locking slide panel that can be slid into place to keep your pets in or out. I would like to see those panels sold separately, so I could buy a second one, for during heavy snow storms, so I could have them on both sides of the door. The bottom line is that this is a good solid door.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Brianna Looked cool, but didn't fit
I liked all the features, but it was too large for my studs on my wall. I was trying to install this into my wall, but the beams were too close. I had to return this and get a more narrow door. Fortunately, my Rottweiler still fits.
