Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by VPCTech Light enough for old cats and tiny kittens
Installs easy and works great for any INSIDE door. The price for this does not reflect outside-door usage. It's not weather-proof enough for entry/exit into main house.
I use this for the basement door where, if I left the door open, all my cool a/c air will sink to the lower level and basement areas. This way, the cats can go up/down as they please.
This unit has a lock, in-only and out-only options as well. If your cat doesn't take to it or has difficulty, remove the magnet until the door is used regularly, then replace it (if needed).

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Frandy Good value - Functions very well
We had a little difficulty installing this cat-door but we had to do it without any power tools. It would be much easier to install with an electric saw. We had to use some caulk to fill in around the edges to be certain that the cat-door frame was held in place tightly. It didn't take long for my cats to learn how to use the pass-through. The information on the cat-door said it was for cats 12 lbs. and smaller. My 12 lb. cat passes through easily and even my larger cat uses the door without any trouble.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PJCC Best Feature: 4 Way Lock!
I have a few cat doors at my house. Previous owners installed a cat door in a patio door that left exposed foam fill in the door center. Also, cats broke the lock on the first cat door because it could be unlocked from both sides. They figured it out, together.
This works for cat safety and my budget. The Cat Flap's four way lock can only be unlocked on one side, the inside. The door is used to prevent all the cats from coming inside the house with one particular door. Only their tiny mother, a former stray, uses it. For mom I use all four locks: Open, Locked, In Only and Out Only.
Installation was complicated for me only because the previous cat door was installed with one side cut out lower than the other. Ideal Door's Cat Flap requires both sides meet to place the screws in holes that secure it through the metal house door's center.
The Cat Flap comes with a useful template. I used a jigsaw with a metal blade to recut the house door. My metal door was slightly thicker than the Ideal plastic cat door and I located longer screws easily joining the two sides.
This was not installed in a door that is outside our house. I would not use it for that purpose, particularly in a location that had seasonal windy storms.
This new Cat Flap covered insulation inside the door. That was the change I needed! Pictured before final cleanup!
Plastic door materials look cheap, but for the price it's feature rich with a four way lock and a through the door installation.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PetPal Good value but weather stripping could be snugger around edges
Easy to install and a good value. Weather stripping around edge of flap could have a better tighter fit. Slight draft detectable on cold windy days but not a big problem. Clear see through plastic flap gives pets confidence when entering or exiting.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sarah1212 Easy to install - cat uses it regularly
I installed this in my basement door to allow my cat to use a litterbox in the basement. It was relatively easy to install with my cordless drill, a phillips bit, a 3/4" boring bit, a pair of saw horses, a pencil, scissors and a jig saw. The size makes it inconspicuous, though the cat was hesitant to use it at first because she is almost as wide as the opening. If you have a small dog, you may want the next size up, and if your cat is chubby, ditto. The 4-way lock is not helpful to me, because it is an interior door and she's allowed in and out. I also didn't need to caulk the opening, so I don't know how easy/difficult that would be.

Product works great just cut the hole smaller than what they show. If you cut using their guide the hole has a lot of slop. Not so much that the plastic rim doesn't cover but more than I wanted. But the larger hole does allow for easy adjustment for side to side/ up to down.
As for the product, I installed it without the flap to let the cats get used to the hole. Then after a few days I installed the flap. The cats figured out how to use it very quickly. Nice product and I like the entry only, exit only, or lock in/out modes. This feature allows me to let them in or keep them out.

This replaced a cat door that was already there when we bought the house but was missing the cover panel and some screws. It works great and took no time for the kitties to start enjoying access to their basement.

It works fine for a while and then the different settings stop holding. This is our third one.
