Customer Questions & Answers

Is someone still capable of using the door to go in and out or does the entire pet door have to be removed each time?

Asked by: Emily
The panel doesn't have to be removed. I am not a small person and I have no problem going in and out of the remaining space.

Need this in 94" high.

Could not find it here - only medium flap.
Asked by: CatLady
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The maximum door height is 80", therefore 94 " is not an available door height for this item. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Can this product be modified to fit a horizontally sliding window? The height would need to range from 35-50 inches.

I have another of your doors and love it!

6.25 in. x 6.25 in. Small Cat Flap White Aluminum Pet Patio Door Fits 77.6 in. to 80.4 in. Standard Alum Slider is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from There needs to be a flap instead of a hard... There needs to be a flap instead of a hard plastic door. My cats looked at it and walked away. The magnet is cool but is too tight for my cats to realize they can push. So we took the door flap off all together. Unfortunately I have to improvise for a $70 cat door. Unfortunate. They're not dogs.

One side is even bolted to my door frame, but the panel is fairly flimsy. I think one good kick to the other side of the panel would allow someone to get inside. The installer purchased thicker weather stripping because the stripping that came with the door would not stay on because adhesive was poor. Also, that stripping was too thin. I got him to buy and install a lock with an arm that lifts up and down because the lock that came with the panel was tiny and hard to use. After all the hassle of getting it installed my cat won't use it unless I tape the flap open. She has been going thru a cat flap for years that goes into my basement (where I keep her litter box). I think the reason she doesn't trust the panel is because of the magnet that makes a small noise when it stops the flap from swinging back and forth. As long as the flap is taped open, or if I hold it open she will use it, but she prefers for me to let her in and out of the door. It has been in place for 3 weeks now so I don't think she is ever going to push the flap open herself. Sad!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good quality, good looking We tried a few different options before we ordered this door. This door is by far the best looking and highest quality we found. It is a single piece rather than two pieces that had to be connected. The finish (white) is nice and the feel is solid. With some guidance from the manufacturer we cut the top down to better fit our space. This was easy and made a better fit. We used more foam insulation than was provided to seal around our door but this was a personal preference. I like the locking/ directional cat door much better than the dog flaps. It closes completely and locks with a simple twist of the lever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the trick I was disappointed that this door was too tall for a standard Andersen slider, so be sure to measure carefully. The good news is that the top part that adjusts the height can be easily removed (just 2 screws at the top of the unit). This will shorten the unit by about an inch, and the two pegs that push the height adjuster up will still hold the door in place. The weather stripping is inadequate for truly cold weather so we used that blocky air conditioning foam to keep the cold out until winter sets in and we have to really weatherproof the house. Meanwhile, the cats love being able to go in and out to the screen porch at will.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat loves it Super easy to install. Just pop it into the track. I didn't bother adding weather stripping because I live in a mild climate and usually leave windows open a little bit for air, anyway. My elderly cat picked up on the procedure right away. She loves her new freedom.
