Can mice enter through the flaps?

Don't know ours is installed on a screened in patio. I don't think so if you want my guess.

can these doors be mounted in a glass door?

Want to mount in glass door (vendor will cut the glass)
Asked by: bangbang
I don't believe so because the gap in between the two book-ends doors of the unit are naturally spaced too far apart even when tightened all the way down. This particular unit is meant to go through a wooden door or a wall. An extender kit can be added to it to accommodate a thicker wall too.

What is the lock panel made of? Is it plastic? Does it's slide in or just clip on the sides. My big dog can knock out the plastic clip on ones. I need a metal on that slides in place like the ones they have for the sliding glass door models
Asked by: Petdoor
Plastic and slides down from the top. It rides in channels on the sides, seen in the pictures and would be pretty hard for a dog to push through.

This unit assembled between two studs just perfectly to the wall with a very clean look. It is also proving to be well insulated and with the double flaps I don't feel any outside air getting into our home! Our two dogs seem to love it as well, have no problems using the door at all. Its been installed now for going on 3 weeks and so far so good couldn't be happier with it!

Installation was a little trickier than anticipated, but worth the effort. We bought the door because our previous one was too small for one of our dogs. Her knees scraped the bottom of it as she climbed through it which caused or exasperated a serious knee problem. Now, she walks through easily and with no scraping. Big improvement! I love that the panels are clear; they let in light and allow our dogs to see where they're going before they get there. Also love that the panels are quiet. Our previous door was quite noisy when the panels smacked against each other as the dogs went through. With this one, we only hear a short, soft tapping sound.

Unfortunately the template was little more than a piece of paper. I knew from the start this was going to be a long day, when one of our three rescued German Shepherd Dogs was all excited and ripped the paper template. That was only the beginning of trouble. Since the template was paper it sure didn't line up and sit flat on my vinyl siding. I would suggest the template be made out of the cardboard that the French and Spanish directions were printed on and print the other language directions on the paper that the template was made from. This way the template could lay flat on the siding. The other initial problem is that there are no directions for cutting a load bearing stud and then framing out the opening since the size of this door is larger than 16 inch on center studs. Fortunately I knew how to do this and distribute the weight around the now framed opening. This can be very tricky without cutting and removing the drywall, but it can be done, with patience. The wall extension kit is very cheaply made out of very thin PVC that more or less sits in between the two piece door frame and is stuck to the frame with two pieces of double sided tape. The double sided tape lasted 24 hours before I had to break out some wood screws and a counter sink and screwed the extension kit to the wood frame at the middle of the extension kit. I had to counter sink the screws into the PVC wall kit as there is little clearance between the flaps and the walls, which is a good thing to keep the weather out. A better design would have had the wall extension kit sit in a channel around all four sides of the two piece door frame. Actually, the only thing good about the wall extension kit are the long screws, but even those you have to cut to length. A sturdier wall kit could be fabricated out of a piece of Formica laminate, but you need those long screws. I did see on line a suggestion to score around the outside vinyl siding and have the outside frame sit flush against the outside wall. I did this and framed the siding with J Channel after doing this so the outside frame sat flush against the plywood. The overall finished product looks very nice and our three big dogs have no problem going in and out. It took about two days of training for all three to catch on. The one dog caught on immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did it myself! (Well not really) This is a quality product that comes with very clear instructions. I'm happy with the end result! However installing this through an outside wall was much more difficult than the YouTube videos let on. My problem now is that my wall is over 9" thick and the unit is only set for up to 7.5" or so - double check before you create the hole in the walls. Because it's wider, the wall kit doesn't work correctly but I added a laminate panel and it works well! The product is good but my inexperience caused some roadblocks in cutting through concrete block and dealing with a wider wall than the kit.

It comes with two sets of screws, one way too short and one set way too long. Went to Home Depot go get a set in between and they don't even carry that kind of screw! Had to buy a hacksaw.
