If you need to install a pet door in a wall, the Ruff Weather Pet Door and wall kit give you a very nice finished project. The dual flaps on the door keep the noise and cold out. I have two dogs and they both learned to use it easily and quickly. We recently installed dual pane vinyl windows and patio doors and decided that we wanted to install the pet door in a wall rather than use a patio door kit again. We have noticed that when the dogs go in and out it is quieter than our old pet door, and it looks a lot nicer, too. The keys to successful installation is proper placement between the studs and having the proper tools on hand before you start. With the use of a sawzall, you and a friend should be able to complete this project in less than 3 hours.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Sean Not big enough
The product is 7" deep, which is about 1.75" short. If your wall was built with 2x6's, this will NOT work. I'll be returning and making my own. The 7" would work IF the door itself was flush with the wall, but it's not, making the opening closer to 9" instead of the 7" it is. It's like the person who designed this wall insert never saw the actual door it's made for. Just a terrible fit. Highly disappointed there isn't a deeper option available.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Keith simple product for a cool project
I bought this to create a door way for our cats between our closet and living room. After I measured and cut my hole, I placed some scrap lumber in the bottom of the void between the walls. I then placed the wall kit in the wall caulked around it. I thought it looked so good the way it was that I just painted around and left it. The cats used it rather quickly and we haven't had a problem since. I think it's a great product, but I feel it's a bit pricey. I would give it 5 stars if it were $15 less.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by d6776a Great product.
Great for my 7lb and 15lb cats. They were hesitant at first so I did not install the doors for the first week. The next week added a door and the second door the week after. You may have to push your cats through so they get the idea. We now have both the litter boxes and cat food in the garage so there is not a mess in the house. We used this product for the hole we made through the wall that goes into the garage. Took about an hour and looks professional. It's worth spending the money and buying this quality product.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Ruff Probably not worth the price
Agree with some other reviewers that this product is probably not worth the price. NOTE: this review is based on my decision to ultimately not use the wall-kit for my installation and will return it to the store. It's pretty easy to just frame the wall opening with scrap lumber. Despite care as suggested in the instructions (for the door) to make level, straight drills through the wall, I found it difficult to get perfectly aligned holes. (Some of my outside holes were off by a half-inch or so.) Had initially considered drilling back from the outside (using the holes on the inside frame temporarily placed on the outside as the new template). But figured I'd still have the same outcome. So used some available 3-inch screws (3-1/2 or 4 would be better) to anchor the inside frame to the wall frame I'd constructed (i.e., rather than using the long kit-bolts or all-thread). For the outside frame, just drilled through the bolt receptacles to then allow me to use screws to anchor the outside frame. If you're concerned about someone trying to remove the outside frame, could put a dab of adhesive on each outside screw-head to discourage that.
