One of your reviewers solved this problem by cutting 1/4" off the top.

My question is how do I cut 1/4" off the door? What tool would I have to use to cut an aluminum door?

Answer:
I think they meant they cut the retractable aluminum piece at the top of the product. A jig saw, band saw, or rotary tool like dremel would work.

Answer:
Just use a roto zip with a metal blade.its better you make a couple thin shavings then cut off to much. The door needs to be tight so if you think you need a 1/4 inch off, take a little less

Answer:
The pet door itself is a flexible clear rubber material that flexes back-n-forth from the top and closes with magnets at the bottom after the pet walks thru. The whole insert itself is held in place by your existing door wall or screen door. When not in use or on vacation, there is a hard plastic slider insert that clicks in place and can be easily removed from the inside.

Answer:
You will have to use a different system to lock your sliding door. A piece of wood dowel in the door track works well and it is cheap and easy to use. There are also special locks you can use.

Answer:
The pet door is not movable, but the patio door will still slide open and shut. The only problem would be if the patio door opening would not be big enough. It would be tight with a 5' door, but a 6' door is plenty big enough.

Answer:
Hey Babe - yes - the sliding door latch gets moved from the side of the original opening to the side of the 11" panel. BUT - check how far your door opens. i had a 5' slider, and it didnt open up enough for me to fit through! a 6 foot slider wont be a problem.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't not fit my slider glass door.. I bought this doggie door for my Shih tzu puppy. I was very excited.. Door is stylish and sturdy enough.. My puppy in no time began to use the doggie door!! The only problem I had It did not fit in my glass slide door.. My slider door measures 76 inches and it was nearly impossible to fit.. Luckily for me my dad came and cut like an inch from the top.. After cutting the door it fit like a glove.. The manufacturer mentioned they had a shorter version of the door.. I checked and for some strange reason door was almost double the price!! Why!? I don't know.. I did however had to buy extra weather stripping. Other than the hassle of having someone cut the door my dog seemed to really like it.. August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase Great for the cats and the dogs. Have one upstairs and down stairs. We have a large fenced back yard and the animals just love the freedom. Installed very easily. August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wrong color Arrived on time, wrong color, used it anyway, works well. We have 5 cats ranging from 2-6 yrs and they all fit. Would get a larger size if your animal is bigger than a cat. Easy to install. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sliding door dog door insert Easy to install although it was about 1/2 taller than my door, I ended up cutting the top adjustment piece a 1/2 shorter to make it fit. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice product. As advertised, easy to install, works well. Very easy to install. Our older house is slightly "off square", so the fit isn't completely air-tight, but it's better than having the door to the screen porch open all the time for the cat to go in and out. Our cat did NOT like the feel of the flap on his back as he went in and out, so I took the flap completely off until he was used to using the opening, then replaced it with strips of denim to block most of the outside air. I may also try heavy-weight felt strips when the weather turns cold. The fabric is easily attached with the screws that held the plastic flap. The door is easy to slip into place every morning and then take out again at night to lock the sliding door. Very happy with the purchase. Kitty has access to "his" porch and our energy bills will hopefully go back down! July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We're very happy with this product. We had to alter the door to fit over the lip of the track, it was about an half inch too tall even when fully compressed. We examined the section that is compressed and figured out we could loose the 1/2 inch there and the door would still work as advertised, and it has. We've had the door installed and one cat was easy to train with treats. We're still working with the second cat to use it by themself. July 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just what we were looking for Works fine. We use for our cats. It's a little big but the smaller version makes them crouch down to get through. No big deal for a cat except one of ours has back trouble. This one allows him to walk straight through with more than enough room. Another cat goes out but the magnet scares him coming in. But he's skittish. Cat number 3 wants no part of it. Cats...sheesh! June 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great for cats! My cats love this door! Took a few days for them to get used to it but now they use it all the time. Only reason I give 4 stars is because you end up having to buy extra weather stripping andthe locking mechanism is weird so we just used a block of wood. June 28, 2016
